I'm back from the vets, £126.00 worse off  Thank gods lodgercat hasn't got anything icky, although he has got a bad dose of anaemia, and jaundice. Apparently his red cells aren't working properly hence the anaemia. They aren't sure what is causing this though, so we had a blood test for cat aids too..OMG my heart was in my throat while they were doing this, I was even in tears because I was convinced he was going to be put down. Luckily the tests came back clear and he is quite a healthy cat apart from the anaemia and jaundice. The vet does seem to think that he may have what is known as a blood parasite which attacks the red cells, luckily this can be fixed. But the poor little blighter is on huge tablets for 8 days, and has to go back on Monday for a check up and hopefully he will be showing some signs of improvement.

I brought him home and he devoured almost a whole sachet of aldi posh fishy food and a couple of spoonfuls of tuna. The poor cat got cuddled within an inch of his life afterwards as this is the most he has eaten in a week. Plus he even used his cat tray and got praised for that.. He has had a wash and is now curled up on the cat bed by the back door snoring his head off.

Thank you so much for your advice re. my friend and the vets fee, I am due to speak to her shortly so will broach the subject of possibly paying me half the amount, especially as there will be another vets fee on Monday. Thankfully Dh has leant me the money for that, but that is not the point. I don't want to hand the cat over especially as he is ill, apparently this illness has been coming on for a good six months and I haven't had him for that long so she failed to pick it up. I would like to get him through this and a fit and well cat before he goes home, if he goes home. Although I do imagine he will be living here anyway. I won't mention anything about her giving him up if she can't pay, as you say that is an easy cop out for her and she may go that route.

I have a feeling the friendship may be sorely tested and to tell you the truth I really don't need the hassle. I have enough to cope with mentally and physically that this would just drag me down and I dread to think what my therapist would say if I tell her..lol

So fingers crossed that all goes okay when she rings in about 10mins..

GO SOPPIE? lol! She is NOT soppie I will have you know! :rotfl:

Mmmmm.....I knew it didn't look right! :rotfl:

Natty - what an awful situation. I'd tell your friend you need the money as it's leaving you short. Thank goodness the cat has you to look after it...it does sound as though she's wanting rid of it. Have you had the results yet?

Pigpen - gorgeous kitties....I so want another puddy cat! :o

Embb - make sure you get cat insurance for 'life of illness'. It does cost more but the cheaper policies only pay out for a year. We've had a cat with diabetes and after a year we got no money back. Worth paying the extra.

No flying here, my sister goes home on Monday so i've been spending time with her. I'll do some flying next week.

Going to s/s the kitchen and clinic as I have a new client tonight and get the washing out of the machine.

    Hugs to all xx

Natty - I crossed posts with you. Glad to hear puddy is eating again and the diagnosis wasn't too bad. Really glad it wasn't feline aids...we had one with that about 15 years ago and it was awful. Good luck with the phonecall xx

  • 000203D4.gifHi flyfriends

Since my last post I have made dinner and put the dishes in the sink, dosed HRH with more meds, she has had soup,a cheeseburger and an ice lolly, not her usual but at least she is eating. I just feel so drained now that I CBA to do any more.:o
