My OH did our windows a little while ago - up 'til then we had been mother nature guys. Silly really as we have no excuse - live in a bungalow!!!!
Would love to get someone to do them regularly, but too tight!!!!! :rotfl:
The lawn is another subject entirely. We never did our front garden, both hate mowing grass. So to avoid offending the neighbours and allow postie to find the front door, we actually went to the trouble of doing the whole garden ourselves with shingle. How about that for avoiding mowing grass!!!!! :rotfl:
This was before our light-bulb moment, but it does save us lecci now as we dont have to mow. lolWhat's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave :mad:0 -

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Since the sun has been out they look really really yukky, so need to do something soon (rain dance anyone :rotfl: ). Seems to be big price differences around too, so something else to check out.
A couple of things I will do..
- ask a couple of neighbours how much they pay and who they use, to see if I could get the cost down from previous one.
- have a nose at the link medman put up (thx for that)
and very last resort, get my stardrops and microfibre cloths out and DIY it again!Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
I live in a ground floor flat and never do them. No excuse really, except i'm a lazy git. If I did clean them then I'd use stardrops and microfibre and finish off with newspaper. But I don't.Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0

£3 is a bargain. The window cleaner wanted £10 to do ours so DH bought a brush on an extendable pole which the hose then attaches to it for £5 in one of the cheapy shops, he now loves doing them0

Got to say Im a little disappointed at the attitude of many on this topic.
Im sure that all of us on this site recognise that as important as saving money is making money.
Well hello, Those of us trying to build reputable, tax paying, insured and honest window cleaning businesses are not going to clean your windows for peanuts.
Here in NOrthumberland we have managed to build a well established window cleaning business that now employs 3 other gents, with customers that pay anything from 7.50 for a 2 bed bungalow to £35 for a six bed detached home. They rely on our service to be reliable which it has been since 1996. How many of your £2 per house cleaners have lasted this long? Maybe the odd one that hasnt been chased by the tax man yet.
It amazes me to hear so many criticise those who get off their backside and try to make an honest living.
You wannna save money? Solution "Do it yourself" But come the winter, illness, old age, when you cant dont come crying when you cant find a windowcleaner who'll take you on.
I like the rest of you on this site appreciate the many ways Ive learned of saving money, but will not join you all in critisizing those who are genuinely trying to make a living and give their families a little something.
Point Made I Hope & Keep up the good work Martin

the £2 window cleaner I know have been around for over 30 years and have 6 vans and probably a dozen or more window cleaners. They can do a 2 bed house in about 5 minutes so thats £24 per hour per window cleaner.
would say charging £7.50 for a 2 bed is a rip off mate0 -
I pay £6 a month to have my front windows clean - 5 window so £1.25 per window. If I want the back done it's £10.....I live in London0
-
£1.25 a window is about what i charge give or take a bit, its the norm in my area. i have many satisfied customers. i'm with WINDOWCLEANER on this, many of us are reputable, insured and legit and provide a friendly and reliable service.0
