Good on you for getting stuck in the the complaints Ames, their assessment seems totally ridiculous - I really can't understand why they don't want to try to help you to live as full a life as possible, it sounds like they think if people can just exist that's fine. Makes me so angry!

Loads of luck with it and enjoy the chocolate ;)

Ask the council what their appeals procedure is. Make sure you get everything they say in writing so they can't backtrack on their story later. If you have problems with them not replying to letters in any kind of sensible timescale, send them "signed for".

Delays in treatment affect your health. Saying they can be rescheduled is like saying A&E can close at the weekend because they will be open on Monday...

    Brilliant analogy Z!

I'm doing everything through email at the mo, partly because my printer doesn't want to be friends with my laptop, but also so that I've got a trail of what I've said and then their replys, with dates and everything.

Have decided on plan B if complaining to anyone and everyone doesn't work.

Follow their instructions spend good days using all my energy to cook a meal (hopefully without burns). Then, after a couple of months of not being able to wash or shower, or clean my clothes, go and sit in their offices. See how long they can put up with the smell. Wonder how long it'll take before I get some kind of care package?!

On a serious note though, I've decided to resign from at least one of my committees. It's hopelessly beaurocratic anyway, and it's just not fair for me to keep letting them down. Hopefully then I can concentrate on the other, more important, one. I'll also use my resignation to try and gain a point in the game of local politics.

Just dropping in to give you some virtual hugs- it is terrible that you are being put through this (I have tears in my eyes!)
Your letter and the ideas on how to fight the decision seem really good and I hope you manage to get the decision overturned.

I have a condition that means I sometimes have problems maintaining my weight. I find complan really useful for getting some nutrients in. Do you use anything like this or build up on bad days?

My problem's that I need to lose weight (at least 6st, eek), so skipping a few meals wouldn't be catastrophic. It's just upsetting that I've made real strides with the health trainer, I'm doing so well, but it looks like I'll have to go back to eating ready meals. I should be able to see my GP on Thursday so she might be able to help, after all she referred me to SS!

Tough one- is there anyone near you that could come over to do some cooking when you have a good day? Would you be able to help them out a bit with the cooking and then split the things you make to put into respective freezers to reheat?

Hope your GP can help put pressure on for you.

My sister lives nearby, but we've had a lot of arguments about food.

I've just resigned from one committee and I'm about to resign from another. I don't want to because I've been a member for three years, and chair for two, but it's just not fair for me to keep letting them down when I can't make it. I thought it'd only be temporary but I don't know how long an appeal will drag on for. Hopefully I can rejoin if things are sorted out.

I've also emailed my mental health outreach team, hopefully they can help too. My main worry with all this is the mental health aspect, I know from past experience that I'm more likely to self harm and overdose when I have to spend all my time in the flat, my paranoia gets worse and eventually I end up scared to go out. I'm going to explain all that to my psychologist when I see him this afternoon.

On the other hand though, there are positives to the possible situation. I'll save money on clothes, entertainment, food, petrol and water!

Glad to hear you have a plan in place and that you are appealing the decision. You are obviously aware of things which can have a detrimental affect on your health ie not getting out so are trying to avoid this which is good. You are trying to help yourself in the situation you are in but you need help - which is not exactly unreasonable -it's not like you're not doing your best to get out and about and involved in the local commnity. Being independent is great and I can understand that they don't want people to come to rely on the system if it is short term help they need but they are clearly takng it to extremes in this case.
Umm I'm not sure that came out very well so I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
    Keep Going.
