Thanks Missy.
I've paid another £1000 into savings today. Won't be saving quite as much this month as we are having a bit of a holiday at home so treat money has gone up. Also having cut back so much over the last year I have now got to the point where I'm having to buy some new underwear etc. I feel a bit guilty about treating myself!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Noooo don't feel guilty hun, you deserve it!!!0

underwear is like bread it's essential, do you feel guilty about buying bread? nope didn't think so
Well done on your savings, can't believe you're not thinking that 1k is not much (or have a missed a point here? which isn't uncommon.)
If you want any help re planning the wedding, just give me a shout, i'm still missing planning mine and we've been married almost 18mths, i did all the stationery as well which i think was where most of my money was saved. Best thing to do is sit down and decide what is essential, what is 'a want' and what you don't mind not having but if you could have it it would be nice.0 -
It's so lovely to pop on here and have so much support! I'm not feeling guilty now!!
LemonTree- at the moment my outgoings are very low since I have sold my house and therefore don't have mortgage payment or bills etc. OH is paying everything on this place and next month we should be in our new place where outgoings will go up and be joint. Theoretically I could save lots more this month but we're having a few treats. I guess I feel like I should save as much as I can while I have the chance! That said we should have enough to get things like new curtains when we move in!
I feel like I'm going a bit crazy at the moment with so many wedding ideas zooming round my noggin!
Once things settle down a bit I'll get help from you all! For now I guess the most important thing is to sort out ceremony and date! That is a lot more complex than it sounds. I'll try and explain why later!!
Lemontree- I was looking at possibilities for making my own stationery last night. It is the kind of area I think I can cut back on and I can manage basic card making or printing. I'd love to see what other people have done for inspiration ;-)
I'm about to head out to try and get some decent bluebell photos as one idea is to use these for invites etc.
On our first date we went for a meal and then a walk in the woods to try and find some bluebells to take photos of. We didn't find any bluebells and didn't take any photos. I like the idea of having something meaningful and personal for this but I'm not sure if it would be too far from traditional!!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -

Ahhhh!:):):):)
It's your wedding- do what you wish. Stand on your head to say your vows if it makes you happy!0 -
You can have what you want traditional or not, it's your day. I know exactly what I want for my invites, just need to buy the bits and try it out.
I haven't seen anything close anywhere that does what I want tho yet0 -
as they others have said you have what you want. I knew exactly what i wanted and i did save about £400 pounds doing them myself but i did also spend slightly more than £100 getting all the stuff together. I've seen others do the whole shebang for about £20. It's all down to what you want and what makes you happy.
PS if you are going to stand on your head for the vows it's probably a good idea to make sure you've got clean knickers on.0 -

When my daughter was about 18m, we went to a wedding with all new on. She fell on a gravestone and ended up with grey, mossy knickers which she displayed to the entire congregation by lying on her back in the aisle and lifting her little legs up!0 -
Great advice all- the trouble is I'm not entirely sure what I want!! I think OH is happy to go along with whatever I choose! You can have what you want traditional or not, it's your day. I know exactly what I want for my invites, just need to buy the bits and try it out.

Ah bless!! When I was very young I went to a party. When I went to ther toilet I realised I didn't have any knickers on. I was very distraught and I think they had to call my mum to take me home as they didn't know what was wrong!!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
an almost finished invitation
one of my seed favours
i spend hours lovingly wrapping thin wire threaded with beads around a thicker wire heart. My cats helped no end twanging the wires as i wrapped them0
