how about giving yourself a fiver to spend - and just using it on luxuries - or if you have clubcard vouchers use them on a treat - a magazine subscription or whatever?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Now I know you're a sucker for toiletries too, have you anything on your boots card? Just a tiny nice showergel could work wonders. Me and OH are biking to the pub tomorrow and having 4 drinks, 2 bought each not a no spend day but not a huge spend.
Now this is really girly and sad, but since watching gok I've started to pair and wear my clothes differently and actually have quite a bit of fun pairing this jumper or cardi with that or with some different jewellery.....
Write a million lists.... now I know you love doing those, why not do some baking.... or I did a cleaning inventory the other day, made me feel loads better, yes I know I am super sad!!!

Hi SH and Missy- thanks for dropping in and cheering me up. I particularly appreciate it since you both have your fair share of woes at the moment!savingholmes wrote: »how about giving yourself a fiver to spend - and just using it on luxuries - or if you have clubcard vouchers use them on a treat - a magazine subscription or whatever?
We're trying to save clubcard vouchers to use when I need to store the stuff from my house but I've been doing well enough to spare a fiver for a treat.....might spend a few days deciding what to treat myself to!missymoo81 wrote: »Now I know you're a sucker for toiletries too, have you anything on your boots card? I ran down the clubcard before Christmas but you're right maybe toiletries are the way to go. Maybe something I haven't actually got and wouldn't usually use. Then again some of my nail varnish has run out so I could treat myself to a replacement and have a papmper Sunday.
I love the clothes idea- it will help me in my quest to work out which clothes I can live without and which I use lots as well.
I might have to start with a list of lists to write :rotfl:

I'll probably try this pork chop recipe tonight from Jamie Oliver

I'm starting to get bored with writing the same old thing in my diary- another NSD, another £20 PAD.
I really had to battle the urge to shop today- just felt like going out and buying something, anything!! I don't know if it's due to boredom or a sense of being denied stuff doing the essentials only money diet!
I'm hoping trying to have an enjoyable evening cooking etc. and maybe treating OH to a cheap lunch at the weekend will make me feel a bit better!
Any other ideas anyone?
Hi Jellie
Don't get disheartened, you doing so well. Ideas for a cheap weekend? I'd like some of them too! You could have a pampering night - facial, massage and all that?
P0 -
Definitely scheduling some pamper time this weekend.
Am hoping that as I go through the weekend and look at my finances I'll be able to pay off some money from CC from money I've saved so far this month. I'm hoping to get petrol groceries and treat myself and OH to a cheap meal out as well!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -

I like the gok idea - I bought a couple of long necklaces last year after watching gok and some different bags - they make a massive difference to my out fits... I like the idea of redesigning your existing wardrobe and shaking up what you usually wear together.
Perhaps see if you could swap some clothes or make up items with a friend - that could be fun!
I am thinking of going back to £5 cash luxury spend a week so that I can have some guilt free money but it is limited. Still overspending currently, and then feel guilty after!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

SH I think the £5 guilt free spend a week would be really good for you at the moment.
I'll have to find some time this week to find some new outfits from my wardrobe ready for next week!
I've just managed a PAD of £162.49 from the money I've saved on groceries and not buying any luxuries so far this month.
It's been another NSD.
Going to have to spend tomorrow so I'll try and get petrol and groceries and anything else I need!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
you seem really focused on clearing that debt down - not long left to go now is there!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I hope not! I really want to get rid of it before we buy our house!! It will be like a fresh start! :beer:2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Big spend day today!
£54.54 in Boots, mainly essential medical stuff but I did treat myself to replacing my bath oils as a treat (they ran out a few months ago and I've just not been using any!!)
£17.17 on petrol
Groceries £84.84- we did a big shop and restocked the freezer so hopefully we shouldn't need much for the rest of the month (and OH should be buying next week anyway!)
It seems weird not being able to declare a NSD!! Time to see if there is anything left over to PAD!!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0
