Didn't see the programme but I hope she's had her safety assessments for the creams done as that's a legal requirement of the EU Cosmetics Directive. They don't come cheap.

    I thought that too:rolleyes:

Everything in the show felt scripted and set up to me.

I did feel for the young lad, but wasn't it funny how he just decided to mention holidays in only his second letter to two other kids he didn't really know. Personally you would think a young lad would ask about schools, games, toys, things like that to get to know other kids? Then what a surprise, your off on holiday. I supposed anything else wouldn't have made good TV.

Also on the subject of holidays, sorry but Butlins isn't cheap, if they can afford to go to Butlins, they can afford to go on just about any package holiday abroad or in the UK.

Even when the lad got his own room, the parents looked disappointed because they were losing half of their living room with the partition wall. I think they looked like they expected more, a new house maybe?!

This programme has really annoyed me!
    :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Totally agree, I thought it was very scripted.

    The mother was a disgrace.

They are in "poverty" but can buy fags:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Buying herself a swanky laptop when her children needed coats & shoes was appalling, the other family should have pulled out & demanded their cash back at that point.

They keep hinting for things (or getting the boy too).

The boy (older one) you could tell he was the step-child, their was very little family interaction with him.

& yes, I think they were after a house :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I complained to Channel 4 using the contact us form which was kindly posted earlier, here is the response:

    "
    Dear Liam,

Thank you for contacting us regarding HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVE.

We are sorry that you didn't enjoy last night's episode featuring the Mullin
and O'Dwyer familes. Please be assured your comments have been logged and
noted for the interest of those responsible for our programming.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us here at Channel 4 and for
    your interest in our programming.

    Regards,

    Jessicka Burton
    Channel 4 Viewer Enquiries"

Just a standard response as expected, this is the first time I have ever felt the need to complain about something I have watched on TV, but as I have said the programme really annoyed me.

I know there are people in far worse positions and the people making that programme should be ashamed.

Hahaha her name's got sick in it!
  • I turned it off when I saw the father of the 'poor' family with a fag in his hand! Smoke if you want, I've no problem with it now that it's banned from just about everywhere but the street, but please don't whinge about being 'poor' when you're prepared to burn money.

Last week was better, mother spent just about everything she was given on the kids.
  • I agree with nearly all which has been said about mother on the programme except her need for the webcam.
She obviously needed this to support her internet business.
The customers will have to see what a difference her face creams have made to her complexion!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!
  • Wow, I'm really glad I didn't see this now. £413 is more than we have in a week and we don't live 'in poverty'. Sure, there's some things we can't afford, and some things we wait a bit longer for, but we're not hard done by, by any stretch of the imagination. We might find things a little harder after January, when I have our second child but we'll manage.

You can afford anything if you're just a bit careful, shame families like that don't seem to get it. I'd have been really angry for the donor family, actually I'm annoyed right now and I didn't even see the programme.

Oi! Can I put in a little thing here..I was brought up on benefits (not through choice) in a house of seven, and the only treat my dad got was his fags (but then again, he needed them living in a house with six women) But I do agree on being able to afford anything. We didn't have expensive clothes, we didn't have games consoles and cack like that (the PC was a 386 overclocked to run 95 just to have internet) but we did have Sky. Mainly cos we had nothing else, and it was something we would use as a family, or at different times depending on what we were watching (wrestling on Saturdays mainly) I didn't care about the clothes, or not having any money to my name, or having no pocket money. What I enjoyed more was the time I spent with my dad watching Monty Python and Blackadder, and him starting my love of TV and later film that kickstarted me going to college and now uni.

Be fair to the woman, when your working out disposable income you have not taken into account neccesities such as the lottery and sky tv
  • I was brought up in genuine poverty. When you worry about your monthlies cos you can't afford ST's.

Last weeks was excellent. The woman budgetted her money on her debts then her children.

She seemed genuinly overwhelmed at the help she got & the children were lovely.

This weeks one made my blood boil.

They weren't in poverty as such. They were in debt.

I laughed though when she said she was setting up a face cream business. She'd need a facelift first!!!!

She was horrendous in the electrical store buying the laptop. Her OH should have stood his ground but maybe she's rough or something cos he said he'd tried to stop her but she got her own way.

She seemed to "expect" everything as well. She didn't seem grateful to me.
