How the Other Half Live

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I am getting so annoyed watching this programme on C4 right now.

A family of 4 gets £413 per week, and they are claiming that they are living in poverty!! The man works and gets £280, the woman gets the rest in benefits.

Basically, they get sponsored by a rich family. Watching the programme, so far they have been given £4000, and a holiday.

The so called "poor" family in the programme spent £500 on a laptop! That says it all really.

I am sorry but if the family can't get there finances in order with £413 per week, that is easily enough to pay all household bills, there is something wrong. No doubt they will also get reduced rent, council tax etc, or housing benefits etc....

My family is a family of 4, we are currently getting less than £400 per week because my partner is on maternity, so I know what I am talking about.

I really want to complain to C4 about this programme, does anybody have any details on how I would go about doing this.

I am recording it at the moment but to save myself having a rant I'm going to delete it because of your post. it annoys me too. Over £1600 a month and they live in poverty, give me a break. I have seen poverty and it wasnt nice.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I've seen people asking for advice on forums where their net monthly income is around £8k per month and they have a mortgage of £6.5k per month!

Didn't see the programme but I hope she's had her safety assessments for the creams done as that's a legal requirement of the EU Cosmetics Directive. They don't come cheap.

    Watching it now

    Edit:
He takes home £280/week, which is a yearly salary of £18,500
Benefits top this up to £413/week, which is an additional £133/week.

Take home of £413 is the equivalent of a FT salary of £28,300

£413/week takehome is a takehome per month of £1775.

They are living in council property it looks like, so guessing their rent is £400 and CT £100. So housing cost of £500, will give them £1275 to live on after housing costs.

Wish I had £1275 per month to live on, I don't even get that as a wage.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
