  • Have to say I agree with most of the criticism of the programme. The mother came across as being purely out for herself. The dad (who I think I'm right in saying isn't even the older boy's father) seemed to care more about the kids. If I'd been the other family, I'd have pulled out as soon as she bought the laptop. I felt really sorry for the kids though and hope that the trust funds that were set up for them help them to make something of themselves as they get older.
  • ive still to watch it but am not looking forward to it now ive read the "reviews" so to speak. with last week's episode really going to help a family i thought this weeks would have been the same but i think im going to be gettign very annoyed at the tv later on.
Debt free 3 years early :j
Savings for house deposit - very healthy

Cash back earnt so far £14.57
  • Was also annoyed with last nights programe, feel sad for the children, felt the father to be hard working and sensible, the mother appeared self absorbed, cant help feeling that some of the programe is not real, come on if you dont have clothing go to car boot sales or charity shops. salvation army, local charities do furniture reclaim for poor families so they could have got bedroom furniture for small amount of money.
£4,000 would go a long way if spent wisely.

I think the problem that this family had was poor bugeting ,instead of recieving money they would be better off having Martin Lewis.

Having said all this I did feel that the wealthy family seemed genuine nice people.

I have nothing against the wealthy family, I just think that the programme made them look stupid.

They are in a nice position, the mother even said she was brought up in a block of flats etc, and the dad had worked hard for his fathers company to get into the position they were in.

They wanted to do a good deed and help out a family in need, whilst also teaching there kids an important life lesson.

It was just a shame that the producers of the programme chose the so called "poor" family to do the show with them.
  • Poverty is dropping food parcels from the back of a C130, knowing the fit would get it and the needy would suffer!

That is the essence of TV today, to down everyone at the first chance. My TV will be switched on tonight for the first time since May, football is back!

Hmm, I think I should qualify to go on this program, but unfortunately, I'm not stupid with my money.

I can't work full time because of health issues (don't qualify for any benefits, though) and my partner works full time. With mortgage, energy bills, etc and skipping weekly shops and making everything last as long as possible, we have £60pm left over. I didn't think we were doing too bad, considering our limitation but apparently that's poverty.

Anybody want to give me ££££?

And she wants the laptop to run her own business to sell home made face creams........................don't think I will be buying them

    Thats what I said:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    She looked dog rough.

All jokes aside, she looked like an ex-junkie, she had that ravaged look about her.
  • Oh I thought it was just me thinking that £413 a month was not what I would call poverty stricken.

I think the whole programme was a disgrace and Channel 4 should be ashamed of broadcasting it. Clearly the production company do not have a clue - they are the same company who produced the Secret Millionaire programme and to be honest that was similarly annoying (picking a crap area and a wealthy person to stumbling on a few worthwhile charities etc. to help). The whole thing is typical of modern "fly on the wall" documetaries totally stage and scripted and treating the viewing public like idiots.

    Who do I complain to?
  • I thought the poor family would have been miles better off without the mum, she is obviously a drain on the family! And her face looked like a scrotum!

    !

Your description of the mum is excellent.:T

Personally I can't wait to see her range of face creams... persumably with a close up piccie of her scrotum on the front... can see that being a big seller. maybe the scrotum is where you are suppose to put the cream????

I agree with all the other posters, last weeks family were very genuine and spent wisely this week's if mum hadn't been in the picture I think the dad would have done a whole lot better... and my what an expensive laptop.. mine only cost £350... but then I didn't get a webcam to go with it... mean, orrible woman...

And why didn't the parents just have the sofabed and let the lad have the other bedroom.. some people are very odd..... and did you spot the expensive whiskers cat food....ho hum at least the cats well fed....

Other family very nice but made to look foolish, shame.
