I have a student daughter who knows I love prawns.
To thank me for having her home over the hols she's been to a street market and bought me a bag of frozen king prawns - you know the ones - shelled but with the tails on ( as if I wanted thanking for having her home!!!)
Anyway, I've defrosted them and they're thoroughly tasteless!
My conscience won't let me bin them!
What can I do to make them 'edible'?
Any advice?? - asap!
Thanks.
4 tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
2 tsp creole seasoning
3 tbsp worchestershire sauce
1 tsp chopped garlic
put in oven 450f for 2 mins each side then add juice of 1 lemon juice and another 3 tbsp butter and cook till all butter melted.
Delicious with crusty bread to dip in.
ps if no creole seasoning this is how you make it
2 tsp salt
2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp ground black pepper
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp dried oregano
2 1/2 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp onion powder
Even if you dont have ingredient for it this time it is worth investing in as it is a very quick and tasty prawn dish. Enjoyjulie;)0 -
Tanks very much forf all your suggestions.
They are currently defrosting, and bearing in mind they are already cooked.
Can I keep them in the fridge til tomorrow, open a jar of curry sauce, put them in there, and then freeze them again?
Bit stuck really!0 -
You can warm them through with the recipes above but cooking them too long will make them taste even worse. Otherwise I would just dunk them in mayo with swirled with chilli sauce and eat them.0

You could marinate them and then heat them, as I agree with misskool, actually cooking them would make them worse but you can still heat them. I use pre-cooked prawns in quite a lot of dishes but I add them right at the end so they just warm through.
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

With them aready being cooked they cant be refrozen.0

Marinade them in lemon juice for an hour once they are defrosted. Improves them a lot.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0

they should be ok til tomorow in fridge - then either chuck them in curry or sweet and sour sauce or - my fave sweet chilli sauce. or it could just be lack of flavour due to them just being defrosted. personaly i would stir fry after stir frying onion garlic and ginger add spring onions soy sauce bit of sesame oil and cooked noodles and calling it prawn chow mien!0

Absolutely love prawns, but other than prawn cocktail/prawn sandwiches, or just picking at them everytime I go into the kitchen
, I don't really know what to do with them.
No prawn curry though please.0
