Freecycle is long winded and fff.net is alot easier to use.
And the site has had alot of new registered users for someone who isn't going to get many people sticking around.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -

I'm not sure how you find Freecycle long winded. Every day I get emails from my two local groups with offers. If I'm interested in an item, I just reply to the email. I always found it simple. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hello
Thank you for letting us know your opinion,. Just because you don't want to use fff - doesnt mean I dont value your opinion.
There are alot of differences between freecycle and fff, but until you use it for youself, you won't notice any any benifit from them. Of course, freecycle is a very large community, so it has many members, and thus - alot of happy users. FFF has started less than 24 hours ago, and already has attracted over 50 members. These members will be able to see and use these features - things which can't be provided by freecycle - however, fff can offer everything (and more) than freecycle does. After speaking to people (including Martin) and showing them the addional features and options available in this type of system, this is the exact reason I got permission to post about FFF - because Martin and others think it is a good idea, even more so when people start using it on a regular basis.
You are entitled to your opinion and I am glad you spoke about it and rased the subject, I will look at your comments and use them (as with everyone elses) with the future development of FFF
If anyone else has any comments, questions - good or bad, please feel free to air them on here and let me know your views. Thank you Rex for your post.Origional Debt: £16,000

My only reservation over your site is not being able to view the boards before registering. This always tends to put me off joining up to a site. I like to get a feel of the offers/posts/boards before I decide whether I want to register.
I understand you have done this to deter spammers, but it would only present a small hurdle to them. If they were determined to spam your boards, they could just join up using a hotmail/yahoo/gmail account, then post their spam like they do on this site.
This is only my view........
Good luck with your new site. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You need to give people a reason to join in the first place, just saying something is better than Freecycle isn't enough for many, why's it better for example?
I presume the idea is to be a message board version of freecycle with ebay style ratings for people, if so this is what you need to articulate - where does the site say that it's about giving things away for example?happydj wrote:You are entitled to your opinion and I am glad you spoke about it and rased the subject, I will look at your comments and use them (as with everyone elses) with the future development of FFF

Don't get me wrong, i do like freecycle but what i mean is i have to go to frecycle.org, go to united kingdom, then find essex and then find my local group. Its a long way round, where as on fff it keeps me logged in and the first page has essex on it and i find it much easier.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -

I never have to go to the Freecycle site. Every post (offers/wanted/mods messages) from my local groups are automatically emailed to me. I just check my email to see what's going on in my groups. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I found out about FFF literally 10 minutes ago and I'm already signed up!
I've always thought that freecycle was a bit daunting and the only groups that are anywhere near me are about 20 miles away. With our car off the road, (and on it's way to the scrap yard) it makes it a little off putting to list things as there's no guarantee that people will be able to come and get them.
To add to previous poster's comments, (for the groups I joined anyway), I had to become a member before I could see what was available and I have had to pass up things I did need because of the "post an offer first" policy. I think it is a good policy (give before you recieve) as it means you can't just take take take. For me & BF, this has been hard as we only moved into our own place 6 months ago and haven't had anything to give away really.
Also I think the forum style is a better idea than just a list of posts, because you can reply to the post without starting a new thread and so people can keep track of the items better.
Any-how, being a Yorkshire lass, I reckon owt fer nowt is a grand idea

I find that if you wait for the emails (mine go through yahoo and it seems t otake longer) then the offered stuff is gone before i get an email.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0
