Don't worry everyone, I don't intend to let the training slip, 2 days is nothing! Perhaps I would feel a little complacent if it had been a whole month or something but not 2 days! Anyway, my hubby is to blame for a wee this morning, which ruined our record, he left the water in the lounge overnight - big no no. I don't blame Stella for that, back to zero dry time, but we did get all the way to at least 61 hours dry time, so thats the new one to beat.My darling boy born December 20110

Well my Jack Russell puppy is 14 weeks today :j and we are going out on our first walkies (had to wait a fortnight after second injections).
He was half asleep last night and at about 11pm when i was going to bed, i opened the back door and said 'go toilet' and bless he did a wee and came back in :T
This morning, he has done his business, but on paper :T and i let him out to 'go toilet' and he did a wee wee again. I feel like a proud mum :rotfl: My kids think i've lost the plot. My 13 year old son said you never hug us when we've been to the toilet
I'll post back on how walkies goes later
Have a lovely day
Bless him! He's doing so well!! Hope he enjoys he first walk - you get so much attention when they are young, its lovely for them (and us!). I totally feel like a proud mum when they are good so I understand.
Tell yours kids that they got loads of praise and treats and silly noises when they were being potty trained - assuming they did of course.

my situation is that i have a 1 year old lurcher and 12 week old terrier.
Our way for house training was basically paper down at the door, everytime the dog so much as sniffed somewhere we put him straight on the paper. i was off work at the time for 2 weeks when we ot the terrier so basically followed him around house like a mad woman. the trick is not to punish your dog for doing their business elsewhere just put them straight on paper even if when you catch the they have just finished.
When i was back at work we would put paper all over the kitchen floor where our two dogs were throughout the day so wherever he did his business it was on papaer. eventually a pattern emerged whereby he would do his businees in a certain place so we reduced the amoount of paper and left some paper in the spot he used regularly. then we started to move the paper towards the door ( where it is when we are in the house) and a pattern soon developed. we are really pleased that at 12 weeks old our puppy now waits until we get home before he does his business. its really exciting that at so young he is learning, however i do think having our other dog training has helped as the pup must pick it up from him. there are still accidents dont get me wrong hes not perfect yet but our routine is def working very well!!0 -
Well just wanted to report, Molly had done so well this week, a record 5 days today, and dry last night too. Then this evening we had an accident, she'd only been out about 15mins previous, but I caught her doing it and she quickly stopped and took her out. So not a bad accident I suppose. Just feel a bit disheartened Im back to day 1 again. Hopefully next week we might make it to 6 days on the trot, cos seem to being going up a day a week, lol.
Shes now flat out dreaming of barking(such a funny noise she makes) on the living room floor bless her.
Hows everyone else doing, have you made it longer kat and dreamer?0 -

hello
Well day before yesterday we had the new crate delivered, so during the day i made it a fun place to be, giving treats in it and meals. That night i didn't lock him in because i didn't want to scare him with it being his first night sleeping in there. So when we went to bed he did the usual, went into bed and as soon as the light went out came to the safety gate and yapped for 20 or so mins.
Last night i took him out and he did his toilet business :T, then he came in, run into the crate, i locked him in, went to bed and he only yapped for 9 mins :j :T
I got up when i heard him this morning, no accidents :T, let him out and he did his business. So that's my first proper dry night :rotfl: or his should i say
Didn't do so well in the car thoughHe has been on short journeys, but we took him a bit further yesterday. He started to drool (lots) mouth wet through. Pulled in at pet store car park and he was sick all over my husband :rotfl: Then after a clean up and a walk around we set off home and yep, drool king started again and threw up on me, uuurrgggg
Think it could be too much too soon, but we live and learn :A0 -

Do you put him in the front or back? We had been putting Molly on OHs lap in the front and she was pretty much always sick just as we got there (no matter how far), now OH sits in the back and so far shes been good we even went for 1hr to the Norfolk dog day last week with no sicks. She does however still drool like no ones business, its like a tap out of her mouth, no idea why she does it, other than it being a bit hotter in a car or maybe nervousness.
I think the more you do it though the better they will be. We're off to carboot in a bit, shes gonna love it!0 -

It's great to get up t nothing
He sat on my lap in the front, so what you are saying is really interestingWill have to try in the back x Milo is just the same as Molly, he drooled like he had a tap running in his mouth x I thought he may be hot, so opened the window, didn't really help. Poor Milo, we had a halfway stop to make sure he wasn't going to be sick again and he really didn't want to get back in the car. He was shaking, so he had lots of cuddles and reassurance and he went to sleep for the rest of the journey. It was only half an hour so not too long
Enjoy your day :j0 -
No good news to report I'm afraid, weekends always tend to be bad, I guess because we don't have a proper routine for the weekend. Anyway, I did make my husband get up at 7:30am on saturday and I did it today, just so she doesn't have 9 hrs without a pee, unfortunately it didn't help this time. I took her out this morning at 7:30am, she did a pee, then I locked her in the lounge again and went back to sleep. Husband awoke early, about 8am and went down and she had peed inside! She was only left for 30mins and she had already done a pee and she still did another one! Don't understand that at all, guess she may be confused.
Anyway, back to weekdays now and our normal routine, hopefully we can make it 3 nights in a row this week, which would break our record. Here's hoping.
Well done BD and Mandy, good luck for the coming week!
The drool in the car thing is standard in puppies I believe as when I took cali to her first and 2nd vet appts the receptionist said hello to her and said, ahh the drool, was this your first car journey? I think they do it until they get used to the car, don't think temp has anything to do with it. Cali is 18mths and she still drools a little, not as bad tho.
