Miele worth the money?
Comments

Finally bought my Miele last week and had them delivered on Thursday. I love them. So quiet and easy to use.
I ended up getting a really good deal. 10 year guarantee for the washing machine and 5 year for the tumble dryer. I got a 1600 spin washing machine for £699 because they were selling them off at Apollo 2000. I nearly got a 1300 spin for £649.
I freecycled my old ones. As they were not working properly I gave them to someone who strips them for parts or fixes them. Also I knew he had a trolley so he would not scratch my floor! He asked what I am replacing them with and when I said Miele he said he hates Miele because they put him out of business (he repairs machines). They hardly go wrong and have such good guarantees. He said I have made a good choice.
Thanks for the advice everyone.Wendy0 -
I got my miele from clearance-comet.co.uk got it for £700 instead of £1000!whoo i love it, it lights up inside & everything & is completely silent, i dont even hear it spinning!
I am now debating purchasing a tumble dryer but i am not sure, as it wil only get used occasionally in the winter & not sure if £500+ is worth it in comparison with £150 for a white knight?
i know i'll appreciate it in 2-3 yrs when we're planning for lots of babies, so maybe its best to get it now rather than when we have a reduced income?0 -
I'm not sure if it works out more cost-effective over a given period of time to buy the expensive brand or to buy & replace a number of cheaper ones.
I think there's probably not much in it.
For a washing machine, you should also look at the energy rating and the drum size.
I echo this thought too. With the technology becoming more eco-friendly and complicated, I wonder if the true running cost (water, detergents, electrics, and repiar/replace bills) would be in favour of good cheaper up to date eco-efficient machine getting replaced every 5 years.
What do you think??0 -
When considering the price of a Miele take into account whether you have to take days off work when the repairman calls. Because with an unreliable machine you could easily end up 'losing' a week's pay in a year.
Also could you really cope (in a large household / children) without a washing machine for more than a day or two?
I wouldn't pay the extra for a Miele fridge/freezer - there's very little to go wrong in a fridge, but washing machines are a lot more complicated (electricity / water / vibration is not a good mix).A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Oh, the more modern Mieles can be reprogrammed with different cycles as detergents etc change.
10 year guarantee for the washing machine ... I got a 1600 spin washing machine for £699 = £70 a year, guaranteed. I don't think buying cheapies can possibly compete with that on value and peace of mind.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Hi
I am looking for a new washing machine and considering a Miele.
When did you buy your machine, which model did you get and where did you buy it from please, as the price you quote above is excellent? We seek a world in which everyone with HIV/AIDS can live an abundant lifeWant to join us?0 -
I haven't read the whole thread but just thought I'd respond to the title...in my opinion YES Miele are well worth the money. My mum has a Miele washer, dryer and vac and when I moved house 5 years ago I bought exactly the same models as my mum as I was so impressed. Yes they do cost more but they last much longer, on the one occasion my mum has needed to call out an engineer for her dryer it was hassle free, quick and didn't cost a penny as it was covered under her 10 year guarantee. All mums items are still going strong and I've never had any problems in the 5 years I've owned Miele and I still have 5 years left on my guarantees
I wouldn't buy any other brand now that I've had Miele in my home.

Another Miele fan. I've just sent our vacuum off on their 'valet service'. We broke the hose end (which has a remote control on) the cost was £69 plus vat to replace. But for £79 inclusive, they have collected my tired old machine, with 3 or 4 problems including the snapped head and will return it, in pristine condition, with new bag, filter and guarantee (1 year) and brand new parts. Bravo.
Our dishwasher, is Miele, and has been a 'Friday afternoon' job, with significant problems (10 year warranty), but each time the Miele man comes within a 4 hour time slot, calls before he comes, even fed the dog once, when I went to do the school run! But despite this, I wouldn't have it any other way.0 -
They don't all have a 10 yr guarantee, some are 5 yrs.
Does anyone recommend a particular model as there are quite a few to choose from?We seek a world in which everyone with HIV/AIDS can live an abundant lifeWant to join us?0
