Miele worth the money?

I have always bought cheaper washing machines and dryers. Over the past 19 years I have washing machines that last about 2 - 3 years. I usually go for Zanussi or Hotpoint. I rarely pay for them to be fixed because it is usually an expensive fix. Or it has been in the past when I have got someone out. Something to do the drum and ball bearings. (if I remember correctly) Again my latest is not worth fixing. My friend has always bought Meile and they last on average 10 years. She has just bought a new dryer after 12 years!
I have found a Miele W562 for £649 and a Miele Dryer T284 for £569. That is more than twice the price for a similar washing machine. They say they last up to 20 years but often for 10. At the moment they are offering a 5 year warrantly.
My friend is trying to talk me into a Miele but she always buys the best and always has.
I will not be going into debt to buy a Miele but is it worth it?

My mum's always sworn by Miele machines.
Put it this way... I'm 32, and the family machine has only been replaced once.
I have one nowMy TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

lol thanks. They are sounding more and more worth the extra money. It would be so nice to have one that lasted. Did you buy one of the really dear ones or one at the lower end? Some are £1200 :eek:Wendy0

I had a friend who worked in a big electrical store and he told me that you want to buy Miele if you can afford it. "They last forever".
They were too expensive and he said that the next best were Bosch, but much cheaper. "They last about 5 to 10 years".0 -
I miele washer, tumble dryer and dishwasher and would not hesitate to buy them again. when we bought them 9 yeras ago we were a family of 5 + 3 parttime ( not as many now ). In that time we have had repairs to the tumble dryer twice which hubby rang miele, explained problem and he bought the part direct and fixed it himself.
They go on and on and if you can afford definelty buy it.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
Might be worth checking the Which reviews of brand reliability. I recently bought a Zanussi washer (my AEG bought 9 years ago was starting to get very lazy on the spin cycle and stuff was coming out wet - so thought more cost-effective to replace). Although I am sure Miele's are very long-lasting, if you are weighing up that it may cost you considerably more than the next best buy (in Which reviews) it may be an idea to be fully informed about the performance of other brands as well.0

The other good thing abuot Miele machines is that if they do go wrong (which is rare) the internals can be access from the front of the machine so no need to pull it out to get to the back.
One of the reasons they dont go wrong as often is because they use a cast iron support for the drum which won't break over time (but does make them heavier than other machines)0 -
if you go on the miele uk website there are several washing machines that come with a 10 year warranty.
i have miele everything and i can't praise them enough0
