It's nice that you are thinking about your family and needing access to disabled toilets, when my niece got married she didnt even think about that when she booked her venue and my grandad was in a wheelchair at the time, to get him into the venue was difficult enough as it was on the seafront and the steps were very steep down to it, but some of the men just carried him down in his wheelchair! The toilets were up some stairs too so they were unable to stay for long.[STRIKE]Getting married to[/STRIKE] Married my soul mate on

Just wanted to share that we went to taste our wedding menu at the weekend, it was lovely
. Also the wedding list 'fantasy' shopping was great, though I don't expect our guests to buy everything on the list, it's more of a guideline if people don't know what to get us.
Now, it must have been asked before... Am I right in thinking that we shouldn't include the wedding list registration cards with the day invitations? H2B doesn't see a problem with doing it, but I feel that it's not good taste and might offend some people.
What do you reckon?:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -

I know I personally wouldn't be offended if I recieved an invite with one in but I think usually you don't put anything to do with gifts in with an invitation as people see it as a bit presumtuous.
Thanks Mrsanders, I feel uncomfortable about it, so i'll just wait till we are asked what we want!:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -
I'm not a June bride, but I lurk as I'm getting married at the end of May. When we sent our invites we made no mention of gift list and our wedding website also doesn't mention it (only being sent to half the guests - long story). We've only been giving the reference number to people who have asked for one. I know a lot of 'my' guests would be offended by a gift list, but OH's guests would be offended by a request for money. So we've done it this way!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

Nunnygirl, would hiring a disabled portaloo for your venue solve issues or not really?

I love this thread , I just wanted to start with .
I wanted to share a saving of £35 / possible could of been £75 that i have had today . I booked our honeymoon last week : a week all inclusive for me , h2b and our dd (who will be aged 2yrs ). we get married on 21st June 2011 and will eb flying on 28th June 2011, from manchester to Taba.
After booking HM i was digging out mine and h2b passports and mine had expired on 23rd JANUARY 2011!!!! Arghh!! Its £75 for me to buy a new one. but dilema , do i get one in my maiden name or married name. if i get one in maiden name i then have to spend another £75 to amend my exsisting passport once married. Or do I get a passport in my married name and pay £35 to change name on booking with holiday company ????
well afetr spending some time trawling the small print on thomson website , i read that if i go to thomson desk on day of travelling that if i take my new passport and my marriage certificate they can change my ticket on teh day and there will be no fee!!!!
So i have been in today to confirm with thomson and heres what hapeened.................
they said when i have got married , if i take my marriage certificte into them , they will fax the head office my marriage certificate. Then when we go to check in on teh day they will issue my with me new tickets in my married name ..... AT NO COST!!!!!
How pleased am i !!!!

Be very careful with this. I worked for a Visa company, one of the girls I worked with used to work at Manchester airport for Thompsons. She said the number of time they did this and the head office failed to put the request through was mind boggling.
Don't forget that if you require a Visa for the country you are travelling to, you will need to change the name on the visa as well. Most countries advise that it can take up to 30 days to change the visa. Doesn't normally take this long but I remember one woman that was going to Australia on her honeymoon, needed to change the name on her Visa. She had her flights booked and everything in place. We contacted Aus immigration and sent them her new passport and marrige certificate, and waited. And waited.
After 2 weeks we heard nothing, so emailed again. They said they were processing her details and we contact us once the requested was actioned. Another week passed, the bride kept calling to see what was happening. Naturally she was worried cos her tickets were all booked.
We even rang the High commission in London to see if they could help. Nope.
In the end, it took 2 and a half months for them to sort it. She missed her flights. Threatened to sue us. Department of Immigration never told us why it took so long to change her visa.:oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0 -
Eek, giving me the fear now!
I need to get my passoport changed to my new name before the wedding as it expires mid june.
We're flying via the states to our Honeymoon, so I need an ESTA, which I can only apply for once my name legally matches my passport (ie, the day I get married).
That said, we have 2 weeks grace before we go on honeymoon, so fingers crossed it'll go through OK!0
