we chose the 21st as it was the date we first met !!!! 2 anniversaries in one as my h2b sees it - only one date to remember !!!!! LOL
I did get some things in the xmas sale aswell. I got some sweets to use as favours . We are having a sit down meal but only for 20-25 people. then we have 100 -ish invited to the evening. so I have gifts for the day people but for the evening people I have decided to dress the entrance hall to the venue it a long corridor.... so im putting pictures of me and hubby from throughout the years in frames with quotes underneath , a thankyou poster framed to thank evening guests for coming and then 2 large bowls at the end of the long tables with sweets in.
for the sweets i managed to get the large quality streets. I found them in my local sainsburys filling station when getting petrol the other day...... priced at 10p each. with dates til aug 2011 on them. So I bought all of them that they had !!!!! 92 to be exact. not quite 100 but at least i know that they will all more or less get one as some people probably wont want one. £9.20 for all guests - bargain in my book and good sweets aswell. Now married !!!21/06/11 :T.

I am getting married on June 25th this year and starting to get very excited but also having fairly regular dreams about not being ready on time - eek!
Have booked venue - local hotel, photographer, going to do flowers myself, 13 year old daughter is making cupcakes as our wedding cake, bridesmaid's dresses bought half price in BHS sale before Xmas, dress being bought from French website to save £200, honeymoon in Lake District. Hoping it will all come in at £7k - dad very generously has given £5k and the rest of the money is £1k each.
At the moment we are trying to do our wedding list. We were going to do a traditional one at John Lewis but as our boiler packed up a couple of weeks ago and we have no hot water or heating (very ironic and causing much amusement amongst friends and colleagues as I am a plumber!) I thought money towards a new heating system would be much more helpful as lovely as new plates, towels and wine glasses would be.
So just wondered if anyone could recommend a way of asking for money from guests without paying for it? I looked at a cash registry website and recoiled at the 7.5% fee payable. So if we were given £1k we would have to give up £75 of that. Something we don't want and probably our guests wouldn't want either (I for one would rather give someone £20 directly than pay a third party £1.50 for the privilege!). Does anyone have any ideas of how to a) ask for money politely and b) how to make it easy for people who no longer have cheque books or c) any other ideas?!

We are doing the same thing , I googled "wedding poems asking for money" and some really nice poems came up. we are printing the poem on card at home and including it in the invitations.
hope this helps.Now married !!!21/06/11 :T.

We are requesting that people either help pay towards the wedding ie. my mum is paying for a limo, sis is paying for cup-cakes and mother in-law is doing catering. Or people can bless us with Argos vouchers which we are going to put towards some new furnishings for our home. They are a good idea as they come in amounts from £5 - £100 so can suite any budget. It's much better than recieving 10 kettles and toasters ha ha.
I felt mean asking my bridesmaids to pay for their outfits so scrimped and have chosen for them to wear red maxi dresses, the paige boys are wearing trousers and a nice shirt and flower girl is dressing up as a fairy. No More Buying Books: read 0/25; Bought: 0

am a very latecomer, however we've just decided on a date and it's 23rd june. not that there's any pressure now or anything ....!!
now that i'm here, i'm hoping someone can help me out. have just found 'the' dress - hurrah! one major thing down.
it stops dead at my ankles so am not sure of what kind of shoe to get that will go with it. dress has a 50s style vibe to it, B&W, full draped skirt so want black shoes.
my OH is 6ft+ and i'm 5ft on a really good day so need a heel of some sort but unsure of really high or mid, never mind style. i do love v.pointy shoes but the style of dress may warrant a rounded toe...?
aargh! can anyone assist?
thanks in advance.RATFINK DAISIES!!!!0 -
