Here's a rough SOA - I haven't included car tax, mot, presents etc as I don't put aside an amount for that. At the end of each week I move everything that's left from my 'spending account' into my savings account, then pay for things like that when needed. I get my tax credits every Thursday so I usually shift money out after I've done the food shopping. Today I moved £50 - hopefully more next week as I did a big shop this week.
I also have 3 catalogues, 2 interest free and a Next account - about £300 on those, which costs me about £50 a month repayment. Must get them paid off asap, been too slack with them:o

Horrible and wet here today - but only started raining after I'd put 2 loads of washing on the line:rolleyes::rolleyes:
So having a stay at home day - at least it'll be an NSD:p
I've sorted the girls rooma bit more, dusted and hoovered too - it looks lovely, for now. Just scrubbed the bathroom, another job done. Have a pile of stuff on the landing upstairs to sort out - a lot of summer stuff and cases to go up the attic...and an old portable tv I need to get rid of.
Tax credits went in today, so they've been moved into myspending account. £20 moved into an account I use for girls clubs and their school trips next summer - one to Isle of Wight, other to France or Germany. With any luck ex will pay half - but really can't bank on that at all, he's useless:o
I'm trying to sort out my student finance - I'm not getting the tuition fee loan as I've studied before, when I was 18, but had a letter today to say I can have the maintenance loan of £3669, but it had a big zero under the bit that said how much tuition fee amount I need to pay the Uni:beer: The letter said the amount I'd applied for (£3225) was more than the Uni stipulated - so I rang the Uni and no, £3225 is right - so lord knows what Student Finance are talking about!
As long as I'm no worse off for studying I don't mind - I know I'll have the debt but if I don't then I'll never get any further in myjob. When my kids are older I won't want to be a TA forever, and it pays a pittance anyway:rolleyes:
Ok, off to do something useful:pI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Texted my friend who has just finished the course I'm starting next month - fees ARE £3225 like I thought. That's what I applied for funding for, so lordknows why STudent Finance say that the Uni have said fees are less
Oh well - at least I know how much I need my dad to pay - he's so keen for me to do the course, said I mustn't let the cost stop me (and he can well afford it;))
Dinner is on - DD2 and I made home made chicken+veg kebabs. Onedaughter having rice with it, the other wanted potato wedges:rolleyes:
I've taken a few more pics of things to put on ebay later - got 2 watchers since last night. Also listed a box set of books on Amazon.
Off to see my sister tomorrow, she lives an hour away. DD2 wants new trainers, which she does need, but she wants £35 ones so I said I'll pay £20, as thats what we normally spend - she's paying the extra, sounds fair to me:rotfl: So a little wander round the shops, visit to my sis then home. Girls are with their dad this weekend, so a lovely quiet one for me - doubt I'll leave the house:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
hi milly - your soa looks quite disciplined... is it that good in practice ?- if not perhaps try the electronic spending diary at the website of the same name - free
Hope you get the finance sorted out but if not nice that your dad is prepared to help out. I think it is good to invest in your education - go for it girl! I like the bargaining on the trainers too - I do that with my kids. My 6 year old wants to go to the cinema bless - she knows we have limited money currently (I'm out of work) and she said she would pay for me as she wants to go that much - bless!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Having a very lazy weekend indeed, I've not done much and really not felt like i either:o
Girls are with their dad til later this evening so need to make the most of the time on my own.
I have stripped their beds and washed the bedding, need to put it back on today. Got some towels on the line now - I'm up to date with the washing but have piles of ironing to do - it's scary!
I think I'm going to go and pu the piles of stuff up the attic that are sitting on the landing upstairs, I'll feel better once that clutter has gone! The going to do some ironing and watch my latest Lovefilm dvd.
Sold 2 items on ebay - one is hiding in th cupboard under the stairs somewhere, so need to dig it out to post tomorrow:p
Still not feeling very motivated, wish I did though...just want to lie on the sofa and do nothing;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -

Ah good...let's be lazy together;) I've piled all the ironing on the back of the sofa though, so it's glaring at me....hmmmm...think I'll ignore for now! Just put all the cases up the attic...I'm hot now, need a sit down:pI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
I enjoyed my very quiet, lazy weekend;)
I did get some ironing done yesterday - but there is still 2 boxes of it in the cupboard:eek: I need to sort through it and see what's lurking there as I'm sure all the clothes I use/need are in my wardrobe:D I know all the school uniforms and my work stuff all needs ironing...I'm putting that off for a couple of weeks.
I did get a few bits done over the weekend - girls bedding all washed, tidied their room (again!), bathroom cleaned, cut front lawn (was a jungle)...that's about it.
Today I need to go food shopping, armed with my list. Have meal planned for the week and don't need a huge amount.
Had a mini panic yesterday as my housing benefit didn't go in - usually on Sunday the bank updates in the afternoon, but not yesterday. My rent comes out on the 10th (today!), so I'd have been left with a very empty account. Luckily this morning the HB was there, an ex's money, so all is ok...panic over:rolleyes:
All I bought this weekend was an external hard drive from play.com - been meaning to buy one since lst October when the pc died. So I can make sure all my photos, college stuff etc are safe. That was £50.
I have some trousers to return to Next today too, £15 back to my account. The only bit of school uniform the girls need are shoes - I hate buying school shoes, the ones they choose never last! Bring back Doc Marten's I say:rotfl::rotfl:I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
I need an external HD. I've been putting off buying one for ages, but I'll soon moan when I lose everything (again). Glad you got yours!

Had a nice day yesterday with DD2 - we did the food shopping in Asda, £53 which included 2 bedside lamps for their room and bulbs (just over £6 for both).
I took back 2 pairs of trousers to Next, one pair were a bit too short and the others were faulty, so £30 going back to my account. I did get E some school shoes in Clarks at £32, but I was really glad she agreed to some - she said she hated them all:rolleyes: But we found one pair she liked AND they fitted. I think it's worth paying a bit more as they really do last - she had some cheap pumps after Easter, well not that cheap, they were £16, but by the end of the 5 week term the heels were worn out and were about to go through, so cost me £9 to have them reheeled and they were completely useless by July!!
I also bought them a dvd, but at £10 it's a lot cheaper than a trip to the cinema, which I said we'd do last week and we never did. Well I got their dad to tak G to see Harry potter and next week he's taking E to see G-Force....saves me the money, and I only fall asleep in the cinema:D
Had an unexpected £44 from Working Tax Credit in my account today - not sure whyI did ring to tell them that from 1st Sept my hours will go down from 25 to 20 due to Uni, but didn't think I'd get any money now? Oh well, will pop it in my savings in case they change their mind:p
Girls both at the park, it's lovely and sunny here. I'm going to attempt to do the flylady stuff...I think if I have a rota or jobs allocated to each day then it'll be a lot easier for me in Sept when I'm at college and juggling the whole work, school, kids stuff again;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0
