Warm Front Grant saved me a fortune!

Hi,
I didn't have one of these grants but got one of the new energy saving combi boilers and couldn't believe the savings on my gas bill.
As a large family in 3/4 bed our budgeting bills were about £33 a month (imagine what they would be now!). Now are bills are just under £20 a month and I am not frightened to have the heating on.
My mother-in-law did have a new boiler under the Warmfront scheme and although she passed away three years ago and we informed them they still honour the annual maintenance check agreement. This has to be an incentive for landlords to allow the work to be done.
My niece (rented accomodation) had the insulation grant and thinks she will not qualify for the boiler grant but it looks like she may still be able to. I feel so sorry for her, as a single parent on low income she is unable to afford hot water or heating because the boiler is so old and inefficient that she is still paying for last winters £1000+ bill.
This is such a brilliant scheme.

I am asking on behalf of a friend of mine that has qualified for a grant of up to £2700 and needs a new boiler.
They have agreed to replacing it, but not with a condensing one as she has a large house, built in the mid 1970's and they say it wouldn't be good enough. Also they say she cant have it in the kitchen anymore and should be moved upstairs to the airing cupboard, which is directly over the kitchen and where the boiler is sited. The crux of this is that it will cost £3300, and she will have to pay the difference. She has been told by various builder friends that this is really priced over the top. Does anyone know if you can get this done yourself, for a lot less money, and they will still pay??
Your help would be gratefully appreciated

You have to have the installer you are given. Ask your local council if they do top up grants as many do.The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

Does anyone know how the income thing works? £15050 - does this work from April to April in the year that the work is done. My partner is working but I am being made redundant in August and will be on Contribution based JSA. We qualify due to Working TC with the disabled element. Should I add my partners income, JSA and my income from April to Aug? Any thoughts would be appreciated although I doubt we will qualify if we have to include all thse figures2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

We had to give the total of all our taxable income as it says on the wtc award notice. This is what they asked to see and took a photocopy of it too.The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

Jus had ours done and they checked both of our most recent p60's from this April. So if both your incomes total less than £15460 (without adding on any JSA or benefits) then you'd qualify.0

We had a warmfront central heating grant and full installation in late July 2006, the first annual service was in June 2007. Under the two year service scheme are we entitled to another service this year as I haven't heard anything yet this year?

Can anybody help me as I'm looking for some clarification. My Dad has been awarded a grant for a combi-boiler to replace his solid fuel immersion heater, due to poor health following a heart attack. The grant is for £3,200.
The contractor who is coming to do the work estimated it will cost £1,800. Now, the man who quoted this explained to my dad that the money that is left will be kept for 2 years for work needed after, then, if not used will go back to the government. I was just wondering what else this grant could be used for, because the house is not really bang up to date in energy efficiency.

He could have cavity and or loft insulation too using the grant. Also, get in touch with your local council and see if they have any grants at the moment. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0
