That's what everyone who has a tattoo says! Let's be honest, it's more individual not to have one these days.

It would be even more individual to shave all your hair off. Perhaps you should do that as well.

Seriously this is his idea of a good present? If he can't come up with anything better than something you've never wanted enough to get then I think I'd really be wondering about him. And as to why you'd now be looking for a tattoo you've never wanted rather than sending him off to Debenhams for perfume/makeup etc is beyond me...

Is it just me or does this seem a bit bizarre??

As a PS I'm another one in the tattoos are chavvy camp :) not to say I haven't seen nice ones but you don't exactly know how they will look over time and in the main I think they look worse as time progresses. And believe me you have enough to worry in terms of ageing without adding anything else into the mix - and I should know.

I paid for part of my OH's tattoo for his birthday - don't see why that's weird really! It's a great present because it lasts forever. Much better than some generic jewellery or a box of chocolates!

I think people get too caught up with worries of 'the future'. This is your life right now - if you want to get a tattoo right now, get one! As long as it's not across your forehead, I don't see the problem really.

I love tattoos and think it's a great idea for a present, just take your time and do your research and find a really good artist, there's no rush.

I've only got one on my lower back at the moment but have been toying with a sleeve design of Indian nautch girls, Hindi gods and peacocks for a while.

We all get old and saggy so what difference does an inky design make?

That's fine if it's a present he WANTS. If you don't really WANT one - it's a lot of pressure to put on somebody for something that is pretty permanant.

You should spend a Saturday morning with me and my laser!!! :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

My OH was at a loss as to what to get me for my birthday and he has come up with the idea of paying for me to have a tattoo, I've never had one but have thought about it and for no particular reason just haven't bothered. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could get done or have any examples of ones they think stand out? I have a couple of ground rules, the first is I want it to be small, the second is I don't want to have it anywhere that will sag too much:rotfl:I haven't made a definite decision about this but any comments or suggestions would be great:D

The first and most important thing I would say to you is that if you do not know what you want, then do not get one now. You will have this on your body for the rest of your life, it's important you are 100% about it.

I've got my girls initials on a swirly letter style just below where my watch sits on my wrist, but I thought about it for months and months, I've had it three years now and I do not regret it one bit :D

The tattoo shop I went to had loads of boards with designs you can flick through to get a feel of what styles you like. You can go in for a browse :D

I agree about watching Miami Ink, I love it :T

What a lot of varied replies, I never expected so many - thanks:D

Just a couple of points to clear up OH said if I would like one he would treat me, not I think you should have one, I think its a lovely, original and thoughtful idea but the choice is 100% mine. We have an excellent tattoo artist near where we live, OH has had 2 done by him. I am superstitious of having any names done, stupid? probably but true nonetheless. I have been thinking about this all afternoon and have come up with an idea of having a small symbol on the inside of my left wrist, as suggested this is coverable with a watch or bangle if necessary. My OH would also like the same symbol in the same place, just in case anyone thinks a tattoo lasts longer than a relationship we have been together many many years and if by some small chance we did split we still have 2 children together so there will always be a bond, now just to choose the symbol:rotfl:I'm in no rush and will check out the suggestions for research - thanks again for all the replies:)
