  • I think you did really well there sally, my eldest is nearly 12 and has special needs (including some Aspergers tendencies) and he can be quite awkward sometimes and we're always having to remind him to make friends, especially when he started high school last september. Hope it goes ok xxxx

CT, I love the cards, how did you do the butterflies? I adore butterflies, I did a very basic card with one, I'll have to see if I can upload one in a bit, but not sure if I've done enough posts as a member to post pics.

Off to go and have a look at pink gem stamps :p

    I love Martin, he's saved me a fortune!!!:money:
  • I can't seem to work out how to put a pic on my posts, but this is the link to the card section of my side. Please excuse the cards being so basic, but I've only just started making cards xxx

    Thanks everyone.

Helping_hubby - He did start last September, so I guess it has only been four months. Hopefully he might listen to me this time and try a wee bit harder. I know when he's in company he looks really uncomfortable in case anyone asks him something or he's asked to do something in the front of others, a bit like why he doesn't take part in class discussion etc, but at the end of his high school, he was starting to enjoy that, so maybe it'll come at college too.

Thanks for the update Sally. Did your son just start college last September? I'm not very good at making friends and it took me a long time to make friends when I went to Uni. I was quite lonely and sad for the first few months at uni, but all I can say is things did get better and I did make friends eventually, although no life long friends sadly. I hope things improve with your son. Does he play an instrument? Or have any hobbies so he could join a group or take evening classes to meet like minded people? Not that I can talk - I'm still yet to make friends of my own since I moved house. :)

The butterflies are homemade, my OH bought me (although secretly I think he wanted it for himself :rotfl:) a craft robo for Christmas, and has been playing around with the software for it. If you would like me to pop a couple of them in the post to you, pm me your address, they will only be in white though, until I find some thinner card.

Your cards are beautiful, you should have seen my first attempts.

I've never had much luck with printing wording off the PC straight onto a card. Yours look beautiful, do you have any tips?

Sal, thanks for the update on your OH. Glad things went well with the scan, and will have my fingers crossed for you for the results in 2 weeks.

I'm glad you have tried to sort things out with your son, and I am sure now that his friend of his is aware of the issue that she will try and help too, to bring him out of himself. I never found it easy to make friends at school but once I got to college I came out of myself because I was enjoying what I was studying. I don't have many 'real life' friends even now, and am quite shy, but the 4 good friends I have are diamonds.

Thanks CT, the trick is a really basic £5 card CDROM that I bought donkey years ago and it's 'Greeting Card Maker' by GSP. It just takes a few goes to understand which card size you need to enter in and you need to alter the card setting to landscape on the software, and then seperately on print settings. What I've learnt to do now incase I make a mistake and 'waste' a card, is I know just use open office and print onto a co-ordinating card and mount that on a backing onto the main card like I've done with the ones above, it's much less of a headache :rotfl:

Sally I hope everything goes ok with your husbands scan, must seem like an age to wait xx

Edit - CT, if you want me to send you the disc of the card maker I can, just pm me with your address if you do xxx

    Rusty - I've pm'd you re motorbikes - don't buy until you've read it!!

Sal - I absolutely love your countdown card! very clever! Hope DH's scan results are good and sciatica improves soon. Sorry to hear your son is having a tough time. I can so empathise with how he must feel I still find social 'situations' very hard to do at my great age. Perhaps the ciggies were an attempt to fit in? Like Helping Hubby I also wonder if joining something like a music group, Scouts, etc might help build his confidence?

Fantastic cards CT Jessica Rabbit & Sunrise

    Glad you're feeling better Mary-op.

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone had a hard day!

Hi Ladies, remember me - my name is ikki and several of you kind ladies donated numerous cards to a donate a card appeal for Breast Care in my area. I also noticed today that Toms Mum had be making a MFP for embossing and was pleased with her results. Well done for doing it, you will be able to change the look of your embossing in the future. This reminded me to let you know that the monies I have raised so far amounts to £268. Unfortunately the snow has delayed my task, but as soon as I can I will resume with my selling. Just thought I let you know how your kind generousity is helping raise funds. Hopefully when my task is completed I will have time to visit you again, until then many thanks and hope to see you in the Cupboard.

With best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2010. ikki
