Making Cards - Ideas for a card craft beginner (Part 3)

Thanks everyone for the welcome! One thing I was wondering was what brads were? I've seen them online, but unsure how they are used?

I went to the Range today and bought a crafting laptray with a light, a cutting ruler, an adhesive roller, tissue paper, some more blank cards and some stickers.

Haven't had a chance to get to town yet though.

Going to try Rainmacs challenge card today. Hope it hasn't finished yet. Only done one challenge before and that was ages ago. I never seem to find the time to actually take everything in and get things done but this year with my lifestyle change I plan to get loads done! So something new again.

Hi Jazabelle, brads are little metal things with 2 legs which you push through the paper and then split the legs open to secure them in place, if you want I have some spare which I can send you? just PM me your address and I will pop them in the post today.

I have also added a couple of pictures of my daft daughter for anyone who is interested, I blogged these mainly for me to remember rather than anyone else but you are welcome to nosey!

Ooooh the postman just interupted my post ... he has brought me some goodies to play with ..... all of which are Bo Bunny from the scrapbook shop in Durham! really pretty!!

Is there anywhere that all the entries for the challenge are please. Keep blog hopping and fins a few. Could just do with a bit of inspiration. Had a go but made a mistake so that will have to be something else now.

Wam usually people put their challenge cards on their blogs, you can post a piccie on here if its a small one, thats what we did before blogs.

Rusty your little one is sooo cute. Its such a huge milestone in their lives when they start nursery as its often the first time they have been away from mummy. Well Done to Maddison for being such a big girl xxx Rusty your challenge card is fab!! I love the new corner punch, its so pretty.

Its still snowing here and the drive is about 6" deep. I would love to go for a walk in it but at the moment I'm full of cold. We have just had a big bowl of homemade lentil soup and I'm stuffed full. My new Cosmo Cricket papers came this morning, thanks to our postie, who had fallen from his bike at the bottom of our drive and his post bag emptied itself!! So I might have a go at a card with them later.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of cheapest websites to use (or any to avoid?) please?

My final question is to ask people where they make their crafts. I do not have a table/desk or room to put one. Is this going to be a major problem? I have a laptray I hoped to use - does anyone else make their cards this way?

Wow sounds like you have some lovely things coming your way :j. I tend to do most of my card making on my coffee table. We have a table in the kitchen but the lighting is carp in there so put up with the leg ache from sitting cross legged on the floor crouched at the coffee table I used a cheapie craft knife and little cutting mat for years. I know have an X-Cut guillotine and love it.

I too got the free p&p for Crafty Ribbons, you can never have too much ribbon can you???

It has snowed here a bit today but sun came out and snow stopped. Going to walk and pick up DS1 from school as I hate driving in the ice, I'm such a chicken!

Flourgirl, homemade lentil soup sounds yum, just what you need on a day like today.

All the challenge cards look fantastic and all so different but from the same sketch!!!

Rainmac - OH is currently moaning at me having too many ribbons!!!!! I have a box full of them but he just doesn't understand! lol I am like you, I walk when the weather is like this, we have quite deep snow but hidden under than snow is thick glass sheets of ice!! too many idiots on the road for me to drive in this, although will if I really have to!

I have just bought these stamps here but when I use them they won't ink as a solid colour? i.e what is black on the picture on that link on mine it isn't solid it is patchy!!! :mad: What am I doing wrong? I have now tried it on several different cards, not sure if it is just cause I am using memento ink? I have tried 4 different memento inks but not any other kind?

I have had this problem with Memento Ink too and found that I have to either go over the stamp with a rubber first or lightly sand it (this worked best) x

Rusty the cosmo cricket papers I have are earth love and they are gorgeous I just need to look for some mushroom or toadstool charms to make my DILs birthday card.

Found and bought some Fairy mushroom charms on ebay 20 for 99p plus £1 p&p
