I'd be interested in the answer to that one too. Used to have a Cuttlebug and wishing I hadn't sold it but seen a lot of people talking about the Big Shot.:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0

i have an old sizzix. I make so many cards for sale that I just dont have the time or effort to haul out the machine, cut the shapes etc. I had a large variety of dies but sold them as didn't make great use of them. Now, I buy my shapes from eBay for pennies in the colours I want. 20pence for 20 shapes is worth paying for instead of hauling out the sizzix. The only dies I have kept are those that have been discontinued and I used lots e.g. a very large tag die.
I wouldn't buy another machine but I know the other 99% of people on this thread will disagree!!

That's why I sold the bug - that and I knew OH was after the James Bond box set for Christmas last year so got him that with the money :rotfl: But seen so many yummy embossing folders this year - doubt I would use the dies even now. I'm sure I saw on someones blog somewhere about a new machine specifically for embossing folders and took all folders. Can I remember the blog or the name of the machine?? Nope!:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0 -
Don't know the blog whoopidoo but think this could be the machine .

i had one of those about 5 years ago and loads and loads of dies. I don't miss the machine but i really miss the dies. did get about £1,000 when i sold them all though . Sold mine as i didn't have the time anymore and my nephew and niece came to live with me .i have an old sizzix. Roof is all sorted - apparently it was the original one  the house is over 100 years old so it ain't done bad :rotfl:. Feel a bit bad though as went to get DD from school (no I wasn't wearing the penguins) and there were 2 sparrows who used to live in the roof sitting on the gutter looking bewildered as they couldn't squeeze back under - evicted just before xmas and I didn't give them time to pack :rotfl::rotfl:.
Was talking to next door neighbour and the she's lived there for 28 years and can't remember anything being done to the house so it's no surprise it needs a bit of work nowJust waiting for OH to come home so he can move the dehumidifier upstairs to start drying the wall out.
I wouldn't be without my bug and use it every time I make a card mainly for nesties and embossing but have some sizzix dies that will be hitting ebay after xmas as I can't be faffed to get them out. I also use it for alphabets (still haven't opened the new ones I bought so they will be going to santa).
Have day off tomorrow to wrap and sort out cards plus Monday and Tuesday off next week to go to school carol concert which is held at the church (bonus of there only being 90 kids in the school) and finish everything off and hopefully tidy up as well. Spent a fortune on stamps a week ago and now have none left think the cat has been eating them
Went to christmas play last night was Cinderella Rockafella - absolutely fabulous had tears of laughter running down my face - I can't look at the ugly sisters without smirking surprised 10 year old boys will wear dresses :rotfl: :rotfl:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hi! Rik, glad you took the plunge and joined us all. I had a Big Shot before I bought the Spellbinders Wizard. Either the Cuttlebug or the Big Shot can cope with just about any die cutting and embossing including all the Nestabilities which we rattle on about a lot on here. It really comes down to what you would like to do, do you have the space for a machine or would you be better off buying the pre-cut shapes, it's not long after a new die comes out that you see the shapes for sale. The nestabilities are expensive £16-£20, a big investment but endless uses.
For me, I use my printer for most of my sentiments and then either die cut or punch them out. That way I can match the colour of the text to the card and also use up off cuts of card. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -
thanks for your comments, I'm not quite sure what to do now. are these machines really that time consuming?? I wasn't aware, being a card-making novice and all.
I don't have any kind of embossing/die cutting tools and I thought investing in something like this would allow me to be more creative but it seems a lot of you ladies (and gents?) get on just fine without one. I have plenty of lovely papers, ribbons, peel offs and a few stamps (although my stamping is dire) but that's it as far as equipment goes. I tend to buy card toppers but that can get quite expensive.
right off to ponder some more... thanks again0 -
No they aren't so time consuming, but for one card it can be an effort to dig out the machine from the cupboard, select die, cut card to right size, cut shape and use. If you want to use several dies/embossing folders for one card then it can perhaps become time consuming. Many people like to try new things and have the flexibility to do this using all sorts of gadgets, but for the purpose I make cards, i just dont have the time to spend hours over one card.
I would love an alphabet for my sizzix but I know I will have limited patience with it!
im not saying don't buy one, as I know loads of these gals love their cuttlebugs, but for me I just wouldn't invest in another machine.
