  • Rainmac - I bet your stuff flies tomorrow - good luck with it. Did you get your prices sorted?

Rusty - hoping your day is getting better - doesn't the bad luck stop after midday?
  • Hi everyone
I know this question has been asked so many times but please bear with me. I'd like a machine to cut dies and do embossing and think i've finally decided to choose between the Big shot or the Cuttlebug. Can I ask why the people choose one over the other? Am I right in thinking that a wider range of dies can be used in the Big shot? ( please correct me if i'm wrong!). I've been doing lots of searching and looking at dies on the internet and am particularly looking for some Irish/ Celtic ones ( I've bought die cuts of irish dancing shoes, Irish dancers and leprachauns on ebay so figured it would be cheaper in the long run to buy the actual die cutters) but am having real trouble finding any.
Finally...... which ever machine I decide on, is there a list anywhere of these & these dies can be used in this machine but not these?

Thanks so much for reading :)
Life's too short for wasting on ifs and might have beens...........

I have a big shot and wouldn't be without it, apparently you can use any die in it, but I've seen nestabilities, quick kutz, sizzix, cuttlebug used in it.

I don't know much about the cuttlebug tbh.

    Hi everyone!

I hope everyone is ok, thought I'd just drop in to say hi! I've had a busy couple of months with uni, work and the wedding and I've agreed to do a craft fair at the beginning of December now so have to prepare lot's of bits for that  Why do I always take on too much?!

Anyway I won't be able to catch up on everything but hope to stop in every now and then to keep me sane!

Flourgirl- What is Ikki's Appeal? Would love to send something for it, even if I'm not included in the draw :)

Rainmac- What fair are you doing? Is it local?

Ikki's Appeal was to make a card for her Breast Cancer Appeal (22nd October) Everyone was so busy so it was decided to make any style card or even one previously made and send it to the appeal. I sort of started it off and so said I would do a draw as normal and send a little gift to the winner. If you want to send something I will include you in the draw and you can post a picture when you have done it if thats ok with you.

I bought my cuttlebug on the advice from the ladies from here.

I have a cuttlebug, it stores away easier than the big shot.
You can use cuttle bug dies and embossing folders.
It is also compatable with spellbinders nestabillities, sizzix sizzlets, sizzix originals, sizzix embosslets, sizzix embossing folders and sizzix originals dies.

So as you can see it fots most doies, but what it doesnt do is fit the larger sizzix dies, but i knew i would never use them anyway so that wasnt a problem.

craft superstore have it on sale for £54.99

sizzix have a weekly & monthly sale and at the minute they are selling the sizzix dress up dies with 75% OFF - i have resisted but it took some will power.

Rusty - your cards are fab. Well done on rescue mission with swissdots - hope the day got better for you.

Rainmac - All your makes are brilliant, I'm sure they will sell like hot cakes - wish I was nearer to come & support you. Thanks for the bear heads up.

Skiergirl - Sorry to hear you've been poorly - I'd begun to wonder where you were - glad you're on the mend.

Mary op - How is your OH - hope he's feeling better.

Catmulogen - I have a cuttlebug & love it but know nothing about other machines - sorry

    Sales admin - welcome back

Princesswoo - ! 4 ! Alphabets Lucky you! which ones have you got & which do you like best?

Thought you might all like a chuckle - I was asking DH for an opinion about a card I had made for Ikki's appeal (it was a bit too green) & he pointed to another on my desk & said.....

"Now that's nice, I really like that one"

No wonder he liked it, I hadn't made it! :rotfl::rotfl:

It was my beautiful swap card from Melissa in lovely shades of cream & pale green that I hadn't had time to put with my other swap cards.

Marg - i have the alpha bubble, in my heart, bloom & Skooshy.

I love the in my heart dies, they have little hearts cut out of the capital letters. The alpha bubble ones are perfect for boy cards.
I bought them from the sizzix site a few weeks back when they were reduced from £63 a set to £13 - so if you want some more keep checking the site as they regularly have them reduced.

  • Sally - I'm sorry for your loss. I guess you can never really be prepared for news like that. I hope your family, esp. your mum, come through it all okay.

Rusty - why is it always you? Lol, you poor thing! I love your cards, the Disney decoupage are fab, and you've done a good job of cutting the letters. I hope you manage to resolve the alphabet issue, it looks like a really good font style.

    Glittermum - I think you're thinking of April Fool's day! ;)

Skiergirl - hope you feel lots better soon x

Rainmac - Best of luck for tomorrow, I hope you make lots of cash. :D

Salesadmin -good to see you back. I know all too well how uni can get in the way of life!

Catmulogen - I have a cuttlebug (I don't think I've ever even seen a bigshot!). I love my 'bug and wouldn't be without it. I only use it for embossing with cuttlebug folders and nesties, as that's all I have. I've only got one alphabet and that came with my Quickutz, so I've never tried it in the bug. HTH x
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)
