I think maybe I've fallen into the trap that I usually do... 'nothing is good enough' ... it doesn't have to be spectacular I guess she'll like even the most mediocre effort as I made it myself... but I hate churning out anything less than 'perfect' which is why I hate most of my cards usually... :(

...but on the other hand I don't like copying someon's ideas...I have done that in the past and although the cards look great I feel like I cheated...

.....ok so I need a shrink more than Whoopidoo I guesss... *blush*

    lol

Do you think I should buy a huge lot of 12 x 12 papers like a complete mix and see what i like? The papers aren't cheap so I don't want to spend money I don't need to... spesh after buying those Nesties lol but I Got Them For Nan's Scrapbook Didn't I? ;)

Hmm I bet they are really nice! in my opinion the key to a good scrapbook page is making sure the colours match/contrast well. If I am hating a scrapbook page I'll usually find it is the colours I've picked that don't quite match. Far too many shades of colours!!

..and can anyone tell me why I have Sakura Jelly roll and souffle pens? I'd sold things a few months back on Ebay and someone had said something about them... and I saw this guy in hong kong selling them for pennies instead of pounds... so I got some

...nooooot sure what to do with them though.... lol... do the souffle's just write on anything like the dufex pens? Their name suggests they should puff up?

So you think I should search out a load of papers that are mostly sepia type colour, browns? From a set that all matches so I can put on embellishments to sparkle it up but it won't spoil the colour scheme?

Might have a go at that if I can calm down a bit.. don't even have to show anyone but it would take my mind off this scrapbook madness for a day or so :rotfl:

Hello Myz - I think we are all our own worst critics & it's sooo easy to be 'put off ' starting by that thought.
My advice (from someone who has never done a scrapbook!!) is to DO SOMETHING even if it's not dead right, once you've started the ideas will flow......and copying a layout is perfectly ok 'cos the pictures & words are all your own aren't they?

    Try printing your own papers?

Melissa & Polly - love your cards - I'm inspired to try this time.

    Yeah guess so xxx

I'm sort of glad that my printer isn't good enough to print out the digital scrapbook things I played about with yesterday really.... I'm sure I'd feel like that was cheating lol... but I guess I have that as backup in case the 'proper' scrapping goes terribly wrong...can find someone with a good printer and print them all out

Funny though... the digital ones I made of Little Myz and stuff I loved right away... probably because it isn't so 'important' to get that right?... nurse? ... hehe

I agree with Marg. Much better to be 'doing' than 'stressing about doing'.

It depends - do you want the whole album to look the same or different? If you got a set of Basic Grey papers, they tend to co-ordinate but papers look different so it is interesting. My personal preference is to make each page look totally different with totally diffferent colours. When I said about colours co-ordinating, I meant 'each element' on the page should match/contrast properly (in my opinion anyway) rather than the whole scrapbook - but I have seen lots of ppl do scrapbooks that match all the way through which looks equally as lovely in my opinion. Its hard to give advice because what one person loves another hates. It is all about finding what you like. I'm much more of a doodlebug gal than a basic grey but for the some the amount of pinks and limes in doodlebug would put them off but not me!

ETA: as for the cheating concept...I don't believe that at all! Someone somewhere had an idea, someone else took inspiration, followed by someone else and bang - we have an explosion of scrappers drawing inspiration from other people. Sometimes I like to follow a tutorial such as those on Anso's blog as I just can't be bothered thinking but know I want to do a page. Other days I'm thoroughly inspired and make my own! which to be honest I couldn't care less if anyone else liked them or not - I like them and thats what matters to me! THIS is my first scrapbook page (or one of them) from a design aspect it is shocking...the journalling is terrible and the paper does all the work for me, but I still like the page! THIS is a more recent page which is probably equally as hideous to some due to the very pink nature of it, but so what! I like it!!

Just tried printing out some photos to play with on a page and they have lines all over them.. only the printer doesn't need cleaning... I think I must have killed it

I'll need 12 x 12 papers I think so my printer couldn't cope anyway as it only does up to A4... might look on Ebay and see whether someone took up scrapbooking, bought loads of papers and then decided not to scrapbook after all... that's how I get most of my cardmaking stuff cheap lol...

I 'did' or 'tried to do' yesterday which is why I'm doing the stressing today as I'm rubbish :rotfl:... I need a craft buddy.. little Myz tries but she's only 4 and has *the* most weird ideas :rotfl:

Lovely pages on your blog... I must admit I really love the newer one more.. I think that's what most of mine will look like for 'personal' books. It gives the impression of *fun* if you see what i mean... which is what the page was all about I think :)
