i agreed to accept a postal order from a buyer, i normally only accept paypal. its now been about 8 or 9 days and no payment received. she has now emailed me to say he hasn't paid because her dad died suddenly last monday...
I'd just take that on face value. Email my condolences and wait. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -

If she had time to email you she had time to pay. Open a dispute.0 -
OK I know how cynical this sounds but I just don't believe her. I have been selling since 2001 so I am quite experienced and I always used to believe buyers when they came out with excuses that someone had died - but now I just don't. I know it's harsh not to give the benefit of the doubt but I guess I just don't want to be taken advantage of by people who are sick enough to use this sort of thing as an excuse. I had one girl mail me once to say could I lower my BIN price because her grandfather had cancer. !!!!!!? I'm never rude to people - I just send a carefully worded email offering my sympathies and pointing out that sales are final.
If I were you I would wait until you had received your item, then I would email her asking if she could shed any light on the reason her best friend told you she was in Ibizia. If she can't explain then give her a big fat neg because she's one sick puppy and she deserves it. It's an insult to those people (and their families) that are struggling with terminal illness.0 -
You know if she is having such a bad luck I would report the item as not recieved and get your money back. The bag is obviously cursed so do you really want it?!0
-
I would phone her from a payphone and say, without introducing your self, how was the trip to ibiza ?. Like you are some long lost friend, see what she says.0

i have replied and said sorry to hear about her dad and said it was ok for her to post it this monday.
I think that was wise. You risk a neg if you do anything else.
And let's face it, getting paid late is an annoyance but it's not usually life or death is it?
And if she's telling the truth (as some people must be - even on eBay - just by the law of averages!
)how much of an @r$ehole would you be if you didn't show some compassion and understanding when her father has just died. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
You know what's really funny- go to the front page http://www.ebay.co.uk/ scroll to the bottom- over a year, and a constant advert on one of the most visited sites in the UK and still people get it wrong.I am not sure 100% of buyers know they can't leave negative feedback to sellers as I have had a number of people begging me not to leave negative feedback after they have screwed up in some way after buying something from me.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.
