Ebay curse

I emailed the seller of a bag I was buying a week ago as I was sold the bag almost two weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived. They didn't answer emails so I got their information off ebay and called them, it was their old company and someone picked up and said they'd just come back from Ibiza that morning so that was probably the problem. This morning I've had an email saying

"Im extremely sorry abouty the delay in replying to your emails, I ve not been ignoring you intentionally I have been in Ireland with my mum nursing her for the past month , she has cancer nd the chemo was getting very intense , I just had to be there and we have no internet access , sorry I have pivved off all my buyers so its not just yourself , but I just wanted you to have an insight as to reason for lack of communication , but wasnt my intention initaily .please forgive me I will post the item asap xxx
Please forgive me , and please try not to neg/nuetral feedback , i will be leaving 5 star feedback for your understanding many thanks "

Shall i just leave it and wait until I get the item then leave them neutral/negative fb?

Do some research first, and double check there has been NO activity on her account for 2 weeks... What does her previous feedback say? Anything indicating she's been a bit slack before?

If the bag turns up quickly, then perhaps leave a neutral noting how long it took to arrive, or just leave no feedback at all.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

This may be me but if my mum had cancer and she was about to have chemo treatment I would not be listing items on Ebay. But then thats just me. The thing is its probably a load of bull but for the slight chance it could be true I would probably not leave any feedback if it arrives in the next few days. If it not there in 7 days I would open a dispute as thats over 3 weeks you have been waiting.

It sounds like another of the inventive stories you hear from these incompetent timewasters. If it were me and I had been waiting 2 wks already just to be told that rubbish, I'd be opening my paypal dispute today. She can still respond, and if it does turn up as promised, yopu just close it.

My Mum's having chemo and has been for the past 6 months.

Life doesn't come to a full stop. For her, or for me.

But a crisis can happen, and when it does you drop everything.

I know eBay can make us cynical at times, so after checking that she hasn't been bidding, listing, leaving FB or anything for the past two weeks I'd give her the benefit of the doubt.

I know that's what someone to do for me if I was ever in this position.

Caring for loved ones with cancer & undergoing chemo can be stressful at times ... perhaps the seller needed a break? :D

It always amazes me how many seriously ill people, or people with seriously ill relatives, try to do business on ebay. And all the problem they have as a result.

Yes, I am very sceptical of these excuses and, whilst I have every sympathy for the genuine cases, there are just too many for them all to be true.

Finally, as a seller, the only feedback they can leave you is a positive, so I don't really understand their last statement.

I am not sure 100% of buyers know they can't leave negative feedback to sellers as I have had a number of people begging me not to leave negative feedback after they have screwed up in some way after buying something from me.
