My page would be covered with all sorts of smilies if I was as close as you!
I'd leave a £1 in for now given your job prospects at the moment, you can always pay that £1 off at any time cant you?
is there any way of getting a stepping stone employment of some sort or is that not possible?

@ Pammy, yep, I'm certainly up for stepping stone employment opportunities. I have to take the long term view for the time being!
@ Gerbilo. Thanks! The Big Announcement should come around January 5th! Re the job, well, yes it's frustrating, but in the meantime, I'm making the most of my studies, which I'm really enjoying!

At least you are enjoying the studies. How awful it would be to do all that and nothing to come of it. I would be devastated (sp?)

My father is notoriously difficult to buy presents for, but one activity he does enjoy is eating... and whilst visiting the other day, I heard him berating the lack of chutney in the fridge.
It was as if the long awaited penny (or rather inspiration) dropped about what to give for Christmas. Today I batched cooked two different types - hopefully enough to keep him going for the next year.
By the time you've shopped for all the different ingredients (Bramleys, walnuts, cranberries, dates, prunes etc) and invested in some nice looking preserving jars, making one's own chutney hardly constitutes a money saving option. It's also alarming how swiftly a mountain of painstakingly chopped, peeled and blanched ingredients mulches down into a modest looking dollop at the bottom of the pan.
However, the kitchen's now looking as if squirrel Nutkin has taken up residence, with jars of red, brown and greenish chutneys gleaning on the worktops. Job done, and it all looks and tastes delicious! Whether Dad will be able to keep his hands off it until it's ready to eat in about 8 weeks time however is a different matter!

Discovered yesterday there's a specific reason why I've not been able to get pregnant with OH - apart that is, from my age. To have any chance of having a baby, it needs to be rectified, which involves a fairly major operation - a week in hospital and a month convalescing. The news was a complete bolt from the blue tbh. Very shocked. So whilst I'll be ending my MF journey in early January, it looks as if another less certain one will be starting immediately thereafter.
Children are a blessing, not a given. I think we forget that sometimes.

QB,
Good luck with your new journey. You are entirely correct that children are not a given. It isn't right or possible for everyone to have children, hard as that can be sometimes to live with. I adore my neighbour's children (far more MSE this way).
I hope it all works out for you.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
Chutneys sounds gorgeous! Did you use any particular recipes?
Best of luck for the operation, it must be a mixed blessing knowing there is a reason you haven't been able to conceive. I too hope it all works out for you.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
