@ Pammy, thank you - I'm on the look-out for anything right now - I'm not proud and indeed, right now would prefer a job that doesn't require too much intellectual input whilst I finish my studies. However, it's grim out there at the moment, and I'm not just talking about the weather!
@ Cath - thanks - looks like you're making progress with your own journey as well!

My lodger gave me two week's notice yesterday. Given he's barely been here for the last four months and I've not seen him at all for the last three, I can't say I'm entirely surprised. However, it is a matter for concern, 'cos I rely on his rent to balance the books - especially at the moment.
Anyway.. I've re-advertised the room and am hoping I won't be left with a void for too long!!!

Well, the advert went in and, fingers crossed, I think I've got a new lodger lined up for when the other one moves out.
I was a bit worried I'd be left with a void over Christmas and now it looks as if All Will Be Well. Which is just the way I like it

What a relief you have someone else moving in. I'm sure the money would certainly be missed. You can keep on with your journey now.Nov 2025 - part 1 - £13,878 part 2 - £20,953 Total - £34,832 24 months to go!0

It's late... Far too late to be logging on and checking my on-line mortgage balance. But my December payment hit the account today, and I'm afraid the temptation to have a peek just after midnight was simply too strong!
And there it was, a new, outstanding balance of only £3,450. Whoopee!!! Just had to share... only fellow MFWs can really understand the excitement this sort of news can generate

:T Wow, not long now :T, hope you are suitably proud of yourself :jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

what a fab update to read for a monday morning!!
you should be rightly proud of yourself - what a fantastic achievement!
will it be paid off do you think with the next installment? good news on the new lodger too!0 -
Thank you Gally Girl, thank you The Young One!!
Less than a month to go now - it's hard to believe I'll soon be 100% mortgage free.
Given the job situation however, I'm in two minds as to whether I should leave £1 in my account to keep it open and facilitate borrow-back if it turns out I simply can't find employment or whether I should just discharge it. I guess that's one for discussion with Nationwide later this month!
(I seem to be using a lot of these big cheesy grins these days!!!)
