Dave - oneaccount is not the best offset out there TBH. FD is much better IMO but a little post on the mortgages board is probably in order for you

@ Carafan - just popped into your new diary to wish good luck with your own journey. Looks like you have a manageable mortgage there... hopefully you'll be able to make some big inroads into it over the next year!
@ Golfiematt - this is the first time I've put an end date on my mortgage, as I wasn't sure how far I could make my resources stretch. By completely revisiting the way I live my life, I've managed to make them go a l-o-n-g way! Even little savings, like traveling around town by bus instead of the tube (cos it's about a third of the price) have been helpful. I see that you've been doing well yourself too though... you're a lot closer to the finishing line than this time last year. It gets much more exciting when the end's in sight - I've changed my marathon to a sprint!!

@ smlsave, good heavens, I've not thought of it quite like that, but you're right... Wish I knew how to install a countdown in hours, minutes and seconds! now I've made the decision, I can't wait for it to happen

@ museum worker, thank you! a few very low key celebrations I think , and planning a few works needed to the house as and when I have the capital!
