I tried to find the answer on the ryan air website but it's unclear:

So for 4 of us I want to book 1 checked in bag now @ my original booking.

It says I can book another (if I find out we need one) up to 4 hours before but will they just charge me for an extra bag or charge me a 'flight change' fee also?

    Thanks!!

  • Just tried to book FlyBe new route Leeds/Bradford to Knock Ireland West - OK, prices are quoted up front, usual muddle to get through them trying to trick you to pay baggage charges even if you want only handluggage, then --!!!!COMPULSORY seat-booking, and you have to pay !!!!EXTRA for a !!!!SEAT! Surely they should be offering standing-only tickets (!) to make seats into an extra luxury benefit, additional to the upfront quoted price? Surely this has to be against some kind of legal code - otherwise it's a very bad joke. Extra £24 for two return tickets! If this is OK what next??

on the advanceseatassignment page, just click "continue"

    dont click "accepts seats"

then on the pop up click "continue without seats"

sometimes their site has a different pop up which says "there are some unassigned seats". on this one click "ok"
  • Ta very much. I'll try it again. But there is an opening statement that says something about all seats being booked so there's no scrum on the plane or words to that effect. I didn't go beyond the seat-booking page - must have been worn-out - but if I could believe from the site's construction and the opening statement, that I had to go through that process, a lot of people must just do it and Flybe rips them off. It's scandalous.
  • another easyjet sneaky trick (which i am surprised MSE or anyone else hasnt mentioned) is to NOT allow you to add hold luggage for only one leg of a return trip.
if you ask for hold luggage, it forces you to pay for hold luggae for the way there and for the way back.
the only way to avoid this is by purchasing 2 singles and only requesting hold luggage on the required leg, but not the other. however this runs the risk of attracting more credit card charges since 2 bookings are done. (there is also a remote but real risk [it happened to me] where one of the singles was delayed due to easyjets fault] so much that it made my trip worthless, and easyjet refused to amend for free my separately booked return flight the following morning since there "was nothing wrong with the following days flight".)

Just spotted the TravelRepublic loop hole for Ryanair and unfortunately it doesn't look valid anymore :(

When you get to the very last payment page it states that there is an additional £12 levy (£6 each way as per the main site) driven by Ryanair (on top of all the other usual fees).

Hello - My friend has inadvertently paid for check-in luggage for a party of 6 @ £25 person when none was required! :( Does anyone know if we can cancel this and at what cost. I've tried emailing Ryanair and automated responses just send me to their website which doesn't answer the question. Thanks.

It seems the only way to avoid Jet2 charges is to have a visa electron card available via the Halifax's Easycash account. However this account is not available to anyone with an existing Halifax current account. Is any alternative available or do I have to close my existing Halifax accounts and then apply??
