I had loads of blackberries picked some and then that night washed them for maggots!! Yuck! And then made a apple and blackberry crumble!! It was very yummy!!

We always leave our blackberries to soak in cold water overnight with a teaspoon of salt in, then the maggots are floating by morning and the berries are ready fro freezingDebt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

The maggots won't survive the freezer, so they won't wriggle anymore..:eek:
Having said that, it's probably worth taking a bit more care picking - just go for pristine looking fruit, and check the base of the berry where it was attached to the bush.
You'll soon recognise damaged/infested fruit.0
