Hello
I would make crumble or pie filling - but add something else to it - say stewed apple. As long as you stew them they should be ok.
You could probably make blackberry wine - but again i would expect that the blackberrys need to be fresher.

There's a recipe somewhere on here (failing that google). Basically it is just blackberries, sugar and whisky left in a large jar until Christmas.
I like to idea of using the blaclkberries in drink for Christmas but do think they would go with Cider? if so any idea of recipe/
Thanks

This has probably been discussed before, but I cant find any posts on it. just been blackberry picking along a lane where we live. have washed them and bagged them up. I am assuming I can freeze them ok?? and also if I want to use them for say a crumble or something, do I have to defrost them first? sorry if its a stupid question, but I havent really bothered doing this sort of thing before! thanksLBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! Hi, good for you. Free food and free exercise
Yes you can freeze them. I usually place them on a baking tray and pop them in the freezer overnight. Next day they will all have frozen individually so you can bag them up and then just dip in and use as many as you need.
You don't really need that many. Do you have access to cooking apples? A neighbour perhaps? I peel and slice 2 or 3 cooking apples and really only need a handful, 20 maybe, of blackberries to go with them to flavour a crumble. A little sugar to taste.
And no you don't need to defrost them first for a crumbleDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
