Horse abuse!!! So angry!!

So the onlooker who objected backed off as he was told?At a VERY prestigious hose show this weekend, a so called "professional" was seen whipping and beating a young horse!! this was witnessed by about 20 people and when one onlooker stepped in to stop it he was told toF*** off and mind his own business!!! this is DISGUSTING!!
I hope it OK to put this on here, but as I'm sure a lot of you are animal lovers, there is a petition to try to stop this sort of thing from ever happening again, PLEASE add your names!
Thank you

Rosy, the riding/showing horses world is cruel, before even any head slapping, whipping. Yes I've seen that as a student.
The horse, being a pack animal wants to be with his herd, forage and graze at will.
The money making horse will be confined to his box (stable) all day long.*
The money making horse will not be able to graze in a meadow but will have his feed measured, but worst of all his hay too! So no green grass with the herd, instead a weighted amount of hay to eat.
Then after spending the whole morning watching everything, though he's not involved, get's to have a stab at it.* one hour maybe of jumping, running free. Then it's back to the box. Until the next day. When the boredom starts again.
There is a term in the horsey world known as "cribbing". I'is nibbling the topside of his stable door. It looks cute, but it's far from it. The horse is going so crazy with boredom and lack of a life that he's going out of his mind.
What do you do rosy when a horse is "cribbing", you put a metal bar acrosss the top of the horses stable. How kind.
Now the horse has nothing.
Slapping a horse is bad enough but is your mind free Rosy from the harm of the showhorse world?
As for the incident at the Show. you should have dealt with it. Shame on all 20 of you for being such cowards
I can't see what signing a petition could possibly achieve, apart from an entry on your CV, so I won't be signing.0 -
Sadly I was not there, but then again maybe it was a good thing as I would now probaly be locked away and chrge with GBH or similar. However, I have 1st hand accounts from those that witnessed the "alleged" abuse, and have read, on another forum, the perpetrators "explanation" of events, in which he ADMITS to strking this poor colt!
I would say that this petition is not simply aimed at this one incident, but the MANY others that are happening all the time, and which the vast majority of owners/breeders find totally abhorent.
So you were not even there?
Get off, go away.
Lots of good people here are working and doing good things. You are not one of them. GOODBYE !!0 -
Rosy dear, fess up. This is for your work experiece/CV. They're all going for it at the moment. BS0

Mutter - I am NOT doing this for my CV!! and I AM one of those people who are speaking out in an attempt to stop this cruelty! Horses, and other animals DO NOT need to be treated in the way you describe, I am a horse owner and have been for most of my life!
The initials BS at the end of your post are very telling, you should be hanging your head in shame!!
The FIRST HAND account of this incident which I have had today has left me, and others, in tears! I pray to God that the full extent of the "alleged" abuse becomes public knowledge that ALL those involved will NEVER been seen on a showground EVER AGAIN!!0 -
I am not hanging my head anywhere rosy. IMHO, the competitive horesworld is cruel in many respects, as is the dog showing world.
I don't understand why you would involve yourself in a "cruelty" case that is only heresay and then expect others to sign a petition against it.
As you are interested in animal welfare, the WSPA is a good organisation to be a member of.0 -
If only this was simply "hearsay", sadly that is not the case!
FYI - I am a member of MANY animal welfare organisations.
THRUTH WILL OUT!0 -
I'm not a fan of a lot of what I've seen in professional competition, and even to some extent locally. I remember as a child going to watch a shire horse I adored (I worked at the yard his owner kept him at) at a show. After the show, the shire didn't want to load, and the owner who was drunk at this point started hitting him...made my blood boil, but there seemed to be very little I could do. Parents wouldn't let me intervene as the owner was drunk. I left the yard soon after the incident and found out a few years later that the shire had been PTS due to abuse. I was so incensed....that horse was the most gorgeous, trusting animal. I could literally go into his stall while he was lying down and read a magazine and he'd never even bother to get up.
Also heard of less than savory training methods in the showjumping world, and I'm sure negative things can be said about most disciplines.
I had the "interesting" experience of riding a retired dressage horse. The horse had been kept inside 24/7, had little to no concept of what a field was and was an absolute schizo to hack out as he'd flip with no warning. His owners had messed up his head so badly I really felt sorry for him
