Ah, but has he ever had his steak "blue"?
I would like to think that even RE would be ok with the report. Was there a fee attached to it or just reimbursment?
Yuk...no
Yes, there was a small fee as well as a reimbursment. I just don't want RE thinking I am trying to con them, because I'm not. It wasn't that much of a reimbursement anyway, in fact it didn't even cover the cost of 2 main courses, and I don't want to lose future work with them for a few pounds.0 -

I didn't see the RE upload last night either! I was actually refreshing every few minutes and not a thing last night.
However, I have noticed that with RE this week only every morning I pick up one or two outlet stores at a shopping centre here. As it's only down the road here and it's the summer holidays I can pick them up. I've never seen this before and there actually a fee with the assignment as well as a spend.
I did get caught out yesterdays as I applied for one of the outlets and the spend didn't cover anything near what I could buy. There was nothing in the store under forty pounds! I did ring RE and told them that there was nothing in the brief about the fact that this outlet was that expensive and there was no way I was buying anything. They very kindly released the assignment without deducting points!
I've just checked and there are now two more outlets for me to do tomorrow.
It's a shame RE are doing jobs like this as when the summer holidays end I'll not be able to pick them up and will have nothing!'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'

Sometimes I think though it's perfectly reasonable to claim a bit more. Here are a couple of examples. You have to spend £10 (for argument's sake) and buy a minimum of 5 items. Well, it's not always easy or desirable to get it exactly at £10, so I think if you spend £10.29 for instance then that's fine to claim.
Also some jobs, if I feel I don't want to do them on my own, because it's not something I feel comfortable with (restaurant or cinema for example) then I claim for two people. Sorry, but to me, I'd be able to argue that I felt that that was a legitimate reason for the spend. HMRC aren't to know I'm big enough and ugly enough to feel confident doing either on my own.
Have to say that both are personal opinion and not based on any guidelines or laws I've read tho!
Thanks Josie and to the others that have given their thoughts and opinions on this!
So am I right then that if I do a job where it is purely reimbursement (food or goods) that this type of job will always show up as a loss due to travel, parking etc? And if so is that ok??0 -

According to HMRC if you get to keep the goods then this is classed as “payment in kind” and therefore is part of the fee for the job.
However if you are asked to comment on the quality of the food e.g. pizza, then this was a necessary purchase and is an expense.
I am also now of the opinion that grocery shopping that needs to be done to assess customer service at the checkouts is necessary purchase so it comes off my taxable income.
Also some on here have admitted they always give the products they get from MSing to charity and therefore are not counted towards the earnings….:A
HTHCouldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can

Looks like some over-zealous mod with no sense of humour (or who doesn't know how to highlight text!) has removed it. Oh well!0
