Anyone got a minute to help a newbie?

I did my first shop for bare today. Mobile phones. I didn't get the name of the guy who talked to me - no name badge. But I've given a specific description. They ask for comment on the marketing material on display - inside and out, any clues what they are after?

Also I was in the middle of counting phone types when he came up to talk - where should i record it's partially an estimate?

Thank you! I've only done fast food before today, so don't want to screw up.
  • Hiya,

I'm trying to sort out my paperwork and am getting rather confused with expenses! I would really really appreciate it if anyone could help me.....

    1. If a job paid 20.00 but it was a condition that I spent 10.00, is that 10.00 taxable as it is payment in kind?

    2. If I did a "meal job" which paid 5.00 and 15.00 reimbursement but I spent 19.00 is the 19.00 expenses or just the 15.00 as that was all I needed to spend?

    3. If I did another meal job but the requirement of the job was that I spent more than I was reimbursed can I claim the amount spent as expenses therefore I make a loss or is the amount reimbursed payment in kind?

Any comments would be much appreciated on this as I am so confused!!

Thanks everyone for helping out in my hour of need there!!! Gap said that if I email them the correct pic they will sort it out - very nice of them! Also, I have used your tips and can now shrink pictures. I'm learning!

Just noticing something else though - lots of people Grrrrrowling (am I supposed to be asking these questions somewhere else?) Look at me barging in with no MSer etiquette whatsoever!!

Anyway, thanks and sorry if i've ruined your thread or whatever it is called, hehe!:p

not grrrrowling at you!! It doesn't even particularly annoy me when people post a question on the Alerts thread... but the one that said 'please don't chat' was a bit .

Plus, I have just (very) recently started new diet, so bit grumpy anyway.

Yes my diet starts today (I had carrot sticks and hummous before wolfing down two cookies...). Was told over the weekend by my parents I was looking "chunky" so it's off to the swimming pool for me. I'm not even that big! IT's just I used to be SO skinny that now I'm balooning (because I can actually afford food now rather than eating scraps from the restaurant I used to work in!)

Ok - as far as I know:

    1) The £10 would NOT be taxable as it was necessary for you to spend that to do your job - it's a job-specific cost

    2) I would say that you can only claim £15 as expenses - as you knew this was all that was offered before you took the job, so you spent the further £4 voluntarily.

    3) Sorry no idea!!

Any other thoughts from more experienced people than me?? :)

Thanks Twinkle I will look at that later (I'm on a computer that doesn't have macros enabled and don't want to mess around with the settings as it's not mine!!). I'm just really confused about what it able to be claimed for and I'm not finding much on the IR website at the mo.

Thanks Blondecaz for your thoughts on this too, any other's thoughts and comments much appreciated!

Just thought I'd shock everyone and let them know that a really scathing report about the worst service ever (gyp pizza) has not been questioned and I still get the offers to do some pizza jobs.

Without seeing the online form you are filling in for Bare, its difficult to say where you should record that your counting is an estimate. The marketing material would be the posters / advertising boards/brochures , etc.
    HTH ... a little ... !

It is really hard to count the phones and particularly to keep the number in your head, so I think mine have been estimates before. I haven't mentioned it specifically in the report when that happened.

Marketing material - usually posters, also brochures etc.
