Yes I did, why?0 -
squidgem, that is indeed a mystery! unless the shop did remember your credit/debit card and sign up a hotmail/yahoo address with your surname on it. that give me the shivers0

And are you in the phone book? I reckon the restaurant have gone to some lengths to track you down by your phone number. They must have caller ID and matched up your phone number to the reservation. Then perhaps got your name from your phone number and tried to stich you up by creating an email account in a similar name.
Blimey, I have such an imagination!!
Edit: I think Lilme's explaination is more likely.0 -
Yes it looks like it doesn't it. I wouldn't mind but as anyone who has been to these restaurants knows, the reimbursement isn't anywhere near enough, so now that they're not paying the fee it works out a really expensive night. And it was rubbish food and carp service as well!!Sounds like they've worked out who you and are using the surname you gave for a ressie.0 -

Haha, I think we could be masters of conspiracy theories! :rotfl:
squidgeum - all of the information they have given in the e-mail they could have got from the night - your surname, the table number, what you ate etc. I'd possibly ask whether the complaint was received before or after the restaurant saw the report? If it's after then it screams dodgy. Also does the complaint make any reference to your first name and is the email a free sign up email?0 -
Thanks for your ideas Lil_Me and Pennies ...aka as Cagney and Lacey :rotfl:. And yes it was after the report I think, and it was a hotmail email, so it's pretty obvious really isn't it . But clearly RE don't see it that way.Haha, I think we could be masters of conspiracy theories! :rotfl:

I can't believe the lengths that restaurant has gone to! It really is incredible! I know now that if I have to make a reservation before hand, I will use a false name and pay by cash.0

:rotfl:Lol, I think we could! I was just puzzled about how they could get that information and was trying to think of ways that they could. Can't believe the lengths they have gone to though, I really can't..... All for the sake of a mystery shopping report.0
