Oooh Greenbee, I have everything crossed for you! But of course, you're not going to hand in your notice are you if you're offered the job - you're going to keep it quiet until you're on gardening leave and get your redundo? ;)

Bag's packed. And I've discovered dropping the engagement ring in a glass of gin really does bring it up a treat! I decided Mum and Dad need to be there with us tomorrow tangibly (I know they'll be there in spirit) so I've got Mum's engagement ring out of the safe. It was a little bit dull but two minutes already in a drop of gin and it's beginning to sparkle again.

Dad will be with us in the form of one of his initialled handerkerchiefs which I've hung on to all these years, pinned to the underskirt of my frock.

Daft I am, I tell you. Daft! Or maybe just a little bit more than ordinary Special...

aww Soappie that's lovely! of COURSE they are there...they are in your hearts...but the tangible reminders help IYSWIM

    Also:

Actually went to dr's for my benefit rather than somebody else's for the first time in 2 years. Left with referral for xray on right ankle (possibly undiagnosed broken some time in the past and is now in process of glueing itself rigid). Declined offer of steroid injection in sole of other foot when plantar fasciitis (I think) was diagnosed, but given prescription for vast amounts of painkillers as getting funny looks in chemist for buying packets every couple of days. Referred for physio for mashed up neck bones as something in there is making me dizzy. Given Xenical for fact that I am in no position to make much inroads into my weight when I can't be relied upon not to fall over and damage something else at any given time.

Got home intending to deal with cabbage white caterpillars spotted on the plants on the balcony the previous evening. All the caterpillars had disappeared. Found them all about 3 hours later in process of cocooning themselves just under the eaves. Decided to leave them where they are, as it's too late for the brassicas now.

Cooked lovely fish, brown rice and salad for me and DD2, followed by nicest raspberries ever - so sweet! Just sitting down relaxing and DD1 strolled in, back two days early from her holiday! I have food for 2 people, not 2 plus one skinny but always hungry DD1 and 6'6" BF (who needs insane quantities of food as he is 16 and still growing )

Oh well, it's the weekend now. Time for a rest :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (sob!)

Hi, sorry I've not caught up properly. Have had no time because Tim's sister phoned to say she is coming round on Sunday. We invited her ages ago, but didn't think she was coming as we hadn't heard from her. But she is coming and so I've had a mad tidy up ofthe LR this evening. It's good as I've done bits that have been bothering me for ages but I've not gotten round to -like tidying up the sofa. Now it's all empty and bare I want to keep it like that! Now people can sit on it! LOL! Still got to do the armchairs, and some more of the LR floor, got to get DH to tidy the table, got to dust and hoover, and clean the bathroom, and do mega loads of washing up.

At least the food is all done, as DH did a huge batch of Coq au vin yesterday, so we plan to have that for dinner on Sunday! So that's one less thing to worrry about.

Love and hugs to all, won't be about much over the weekend as am out most of tomorrow

Haven't caught up properly but Soappie I think that is a wonderful idea and hope tomorrow is fantastic.

Can I ask a question please? Hope someone may know the answer.

If my husband buys my children gifts etc or spending money for holiday do I have to inform the benefit people. i get rather confused by it but don't want to do any thing wrong IFYSWIM.

Aklso I know that he can give me about £15 without it affecting my benefits but not sure if I need to inform them if it is less than this amount or not?
Don't like asking questions like this on threads as some people just slate those of us that are on benefits :(

ooh Quillion I'm torn...I'll have to ask my plumbers what they are charging for the tiling or would they recommend I get another tiler in...
I've done the boudoir but I'm not going to nag Soappie for a star she's too busy
I'm going for a longer walk than usual tomorrow and we are doing The Archeological Way:confused::confused:. Usually I manage a 12ish start but as there's no dancing we can get off earlier.
Kids have been 'baking' flapjacks and cheesecake form the Somerfield Magazine - bit like clown's custard pie in texture (no you need to LEAVE IT TO CHILL) but yummy.
MOJ2 all I know is the OLD STUFF (ie I don't know if there are any recent changes BUT AFAIK gifts - or money - directly TO the children is not counted as YOUR income) so doesn't affect your benefits. Penny Penguin might be the person to ask when she's back from her hols.
If you are on benfits though do you have any paperwork entitled anything like reportable events or changes you must tell us about?

MOJ2 I have flashed to where I would normally look for anything like that and I have drawn a blank. As I say try Penny when she's back (I am looking at her professionally here)
failing that I would happily start a thread for you to ask that. I think the 'powers that be' would only be interested if the children were being given excessive amounts IYSWIM such that those amounts could impact on the family's lifestyle.

The Inland Revenue would certainly be interested if they had reason to think a parent was using a child to 'hide' amountsof money ie banking it in the child name in order to avoid tax. But I am certain that would be way more than £5-£10 a week.

Trouble is if you ask officially they might start digging and that would be more stress! Especially if they keep digging to make sure you're not up to no good.
