LTSB - FP -(not)

I know this has been done to death but I need to vent my spleen.
I want to make a payment for £600 to HSBC - but LTSB on-line only does FP to £500. So Sunday 15.45 - I put in a payment for £500, thinking it will go FP and I'll put in another for tomorrow for £100. ....NOOOOOOOOOOOO
My £500 will go on Tuesday ( cos as far as LTSB is concerned it is already Monday, and LTSB doesn't do same day payments even by BACS)
Can't schedule another payment to the same recipient until the first has been processed - so that'll be 11pm Monday night (When Monday becomes Tuesday) - but can't do a same day payment then so the extra £100 will go on Wed.)
(Stupid - why didn't you used your Natwest account - the whole £600 would already have been with the recipient ?- will now cancel and send from Natwest:D)
Thanks for listening.

Yes Lloyds is crap for payments. You choose ASAP for the payment and it won't leave for days, its like !!!!!!?
Thats why I use HSBC as main account, and Lloyds as bills/secondary.0 -
Yep its the lack of same day paymentsthat really stuffs em - epecially when their days rollover at different times from the rest of the world ( 3 pm Sunday and 11ish weekdays)Yes Lloyds is crap for payments. You choose ASAP for the payment and it won't leave for days, its like !!!!!!?

Do FP's work on Sunday with LTSB if requested by telephone banking?0
-
I sent £500 from LTSB to my coop account on Friday, by FP, through telephone banking. I was told it would take 2 - 4 hours, but it was there within the hour.
In my experience telephone banking is the only way to ensure the money does actually go FP
EDIT I don't know if FP works by telephone banking on a Sunday. According to their website you can make FP's all day every day. I suppose there's only one way to find out for certain....I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
No idea, the only time I ever tried to use telephone banking they wanted a password (which I didn't have as I'd never used them) -before they'd even talk to me and I only wanted to ask a general non account specific question- so I've never phoned them again.YorkshireBoy wrote: »Do FP's work on Sunday with LTSB if requested by telephone banking?0 -
You'll be registering and setting one up now then, to give you another option should you ever need it?No idea, the only time I ever tried to use telephone banking they wanted a password (which I didn't have as I'd never used them) -before they'd even talk to me and I only wanted to ask a general non account specific question- so I've never phoned them again.
On the assumption that it will be a good while yet before LTSB pull their finger out with online FPs, something for which I'm not holding my breath!0 -

Mmm maybe - but I'don't trust em to get it right . I like to see what numbers have gone in particularly with FP, and their £500 limit is so paltry anyway it's no good for most of the stuff I need to do.0 -
If you're paying someone, or an account, you've paid before don't they just use your payee details? Or do they take the numbers over the phone? (Appreciate you may not know, not having registered for telephone banking). The former is obviously preferable, but I'd be a little nervous about the latter.Mmm maybe - but I'don't trust em to get it right . I like to see what numbers have gone in particularly with FP
It's only £500 via phone banking? Blimey!and their £500 limit is so paltry anyway it's no good for most of the stuff I need to do.0 -
LTSB on-line only does FP to £500
Actually, having just checked the LTSB website, it appears that telephone banking is now the ONLY way to send a FP.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

.Not in my experience. I sent a future-dated payment (set up online) to Halifax and it reached them the same day as sent (and therefore was via FPS rather than BACS) and another 'ASAP' payment online to Barnsley BS which also arrived same date. Both were for amounts under £500 however. Tomorrow (3 August) I'm sending a much larger amount to First Direct (It's showing as left the account - with tomorrow's date - now, but wasn't showing this AM) Will report the result of this effort.
Update: The payment (for £4700) appears not to have gone FPS this morning (oh dear!).....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
