Why am I unsurprised, on reading the FAQs, that the most FAQ of all isn't listed, ie when will I be able to (or why can't I) use faster payments online?0

I've just about learned to live without the FP, annoying though it is, - its the inability to setup a same day BACS payment or to schedule more than 1 paymenet to the same recipient until their first has gone, that really causes me issues. Why am I unsurprised, on reading the FAQs, that the most FAQ of all isn't listed, ie when will I be able to (or why can't I) use faster payments online?0 -
I have just spoken to Lloyds telephone banking, On line is £500 Max FP
Telephone is £500 Max FP. I asked why On line FP not mentioned on Lloyds web site operator said too many fraudsters, but if asked the telephone banking would tell you.
The reason I rang, was, in branch today, I asked how much could be sent FP and I was told any amount. I didn't believe this.
Another sting to the tail, only £10,000 per day can be sent to any one recipient unless you want to pay a £25 fee.
I too have been caught out with the Sunday not being paid out till Tuesday, again I asked why in branch, (I don't know was the reply)
Thanks for the thread a lot of questions answered.0 -
The Sunday /Tuesday thing is because the day changes when their BACS run is done - so on a weekday Today becomes Tomorrow at around 11pm.stowupland4 wrote: »I too have been caught out with the Sunday not being paid out till Tuesday, again I asked why in branch, (I don't know was the reply)
.
On Sunday the BACs processing is done at around 3pm so after that, Sunday becomes Monday. As they don't do same day transactions,{why -who knows!} anything input after 3pm Sunday is considered as a Monday input so will go the following day -Tuesday
... clear as mud heh!

Whenever Moneybox or whoever covers the state of FPS they can never get anyone from the banks themselves to turn up. Instead the banks hide behind the skirts of S Quinn of APACS who then disavows any responsibility and refers bemused listeners back to the banks' websites. (The same thing will be found on APACS own website - i.e. links to Banks' own FP 'information')
Catch 22........under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Of course, now you say that it's just so obvious. Fraudsters don't target other banks, so only LTSB are prevented from using FP online. And fraudsters never use the phone. Why didn't I think of that?stowupland4 wrote: »I asked why On line FP not mentioned on Lloyds web site operator said too many fraudsters.0 -
By contrast with the above, I phoned to do a transfer to the same account and they couldn't do it at all, only be usual 3-4 days, not even a single £500. I asked why was and said it depends on the sort code and the time of day. This was 11.45 am. Said it might work if I tried at 10 o/c tonight! There ain't no rules!!savetilibleed wrote: »I wanted to pay £5000 from my LTSB current account to another payee (on my list). Knowing it wouldn't happen FP (which I wanted) by internet, I phoned and asked for £500 to go intending to follow it ASAP with more. While the guy was button pressing I mentioned I actually wanted £5000 to go. He was then able to do consecutive FPs making up £5000 in total. Not a Sunday though, a Monday.0 -
Today, when I phoned to make a faster payment. Not only could I not do it, (this is LTSB) to a payee I hadn't FP'd to before, and this is an account I'd transferred to and from myself many times online, but they told me if I could the limit was only £300.
Seems to be getting worse rather than better.0 -

If you have an existing payment to "Fred", why not set up a 2nd payment under "New" payments to "Fred". I have in the past set up 4 or 5 new
payments to Egg for the same day, as I wanted each payment to show up individually on the sending and receiving statements. (The amounts involved though were relatively small but the principle of sending to the same account details on the same day was possible).0
