Speed limits are posted for a reason. As yet I am unaware of any law forbidding breathing over a certain rate.

Oh I do have a sense of humour. ;) I just get a little annoyed with folks who don't view 'speeding' as an issue. Having scraped the remains of children off the road before now because they've been hit by drivers doing twice the posted limit in town centres and what have you, it's one of my 'buttons' that can be easily pushed.

I'm not sure but I think I saw something similar on one of the bridges over the M6 (just south of the A66 not sure exactly which one) within the last year.

I regularly have to swerve around all the children playing in the middle of the M6. Fortunately I am doing 69.999 mph so I wouldn't hurt one if I hit them anyway, not like if I was doing 77.999 mph.

Try to stick to the context of the thread before mounting that high horse. :naughty:

Did the set-up look anything like this by chance?

This ANPR van is parked on a bridge above the M5 in Worcestershire. There's a camera on a tripod above each lane. This setup is only used for ANPR but people still think these are speedtraps and hit the brakes accordingly.

Here's a view of the cameras, one for each lane.

    I can't see any children......

Unless that is one in an orange jacket by the side of the road in the first photo?

The set up was similar, in that there was 1 camera above the middle lane, and the van was not visible, but behind trees to the left.

Here in West Yorkshire, I live near a bridge over the M62 and there are permanent cameras bolted on the parapet of the bridge pointing down into each lane.

You cannot reach these cameras without high-risk scrambling and climbing over the concrete parapet, but they each bear a plate stating that they are not speed cameras but are used for counting traffic flows.

I suspect that they are permanent ANPR cameras hardwired back to police HQ somewhere.

Can you be sure the van was hidden ?
It may well have been parked in what was a safer position, whoever they were they would'nt have wanted to park and restrict the traffic on the road above the motorway.
