  • Some fantastic responses, I'm so pleased so many people are deciding they will not accept being tarred for life and won't take this lying down. NewStart09, you've put the point succinctly. I sent Martin a PM at the end of last week to bring this thread to his attention, I'm hopeful he may post his views also.
  • I'm impressed!
    [FONT=&quot]Thanks for your help! :T

  • Good idea! Does Martin know about this thread?

  • Just thought...

I was in the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) until recently, as I ran my own business. They have a bit of wellie with the government at times and were pretty good at lobbying for a few local issues.

If anyone is still with them, can we raise theses issues to a wider audience? For people who go BR through their business gong under, this could be a way of getting more support and raising the issue further in this sector, but it would also be an additional area of possible support. Any ideas anyone?
    Cheers

Searched for Lords that have ever said anything on the BR topic - results below

Can anyone else help pull together a list of the Lords that would be sympathetic to the cause?. This is a pretty big task and I'm dyslexic lol. Could we share the work out a bit? Some of the comments some of the Lords have made seem to suggest we should be publicly flogged if only they could get away with it lol

    web link is http://www.theyworkforyou.com/search/?o=p&house=2&s=Bankruptcy&wtt=1

This service runs on a maximum number of 5,000 results, to conserve memory
Now, try reading what a couple of these Lords are saying, to help you find someone appropriate. When you've found someone, hit the "I want to write to this Lord" button on their results page to go back to WriteToThem.
Please note that this search is only for the exact word/phrase entered. For example, putting in 'autism' won't return results for 'autistic spectrum disorder', you will have to search for it separately.

  • I would just like to add my two penneth :D

I went Bankrupt nearly 4 years ago and what makes me laugh is that you go bankrupt, more often than not, for what ever reason/fault whether it be your own or otherwise, beacuse you have no money. But to go bankrupt you have to pay nearly half a grand!!

That seems somewhat backwards to me lol - you go bankrupt cos of no money but need money to go bankrupt!!

It does make me chuckle. :rotfl:

  • Good morning Ms MBDF,
I am just getting in touch following your recent e-mail to Richard Baker
    MSP for North East Scotland.

While we would be sympathetic to the case presented, the point of
bankruptcy is to open up a fresh start not unduly laden with increased
    burdens.
The first issue of insurance practice would, I think, be a
Westminster issue as it would be a form of regulation of the insurance
industry and would run contrary to the dominant thinking against
regulation - which is not to say it wouldn't be a good thing.

However, we are taking proper advice from an expert in bankruptcy issues
and will be back in touch once we have this information.

In the meantime, thank you for getting in touch to raise your concerns
    about these issues.

    Regards,
    Margaret Slessor
    Assistant to Richard Baker MSP
    North East Scotland

    Another nice reply

  • Done it!

I've written to two local councillors, one MP (who is a cabinet minister and also my local MP) two MEPs and a Baroness.
I'll do some more later; need to do some work now hehe ;)

I'll be nagging my mum and sis to do some later too. It's an excellent idea City.. it's about time someone championed the rights of Bankrupts! :T
I'm not lazy; I'm simply good at delegating.
