I'm sure your DS will settle in soon...
Well done on the money around the house...I love it when I go around the house looking..it's amazing how it adds up.
You must be at least 3/4 months now giving up smoking as I'm on 9 weeks tomorrow(longest I've ever managed)..that's fantastic.
Good luck with the assignment and figures.

9 weeks is great going taxi, I'm stunned how much money you have lying around the house Penguin - I feel lucky if I scrounge together a couple of pounds!

Hope DS settles soon, it must be a huge change in his wee world though.

Good luck with the assessment. x

  • I echo what the others have said Pingu.

I was in Tesco the other day and a chap put loads of bags of change in those coinstar machines...it looked like he had £1300 on the screen ( it was by the door so couldn't miss it) I felt like going over for another look..but that would have been rude.

I was tempted to use those machines in Sainsburys as I believe some of the banks can be a bit funny if you take a load of change into them but there is no way I am giving the machine money!

The only reason we have so much is because OH earnings are cash and everyone seems to offload change to pay their fare at the min - he only banks the notes and keeps a float of £50.00 and the rest goes in the tubs, on top of the freezer, the computer desk, windowsill etc etc! - there is prob another 40-50 for when I get some more bags! x x

That is what we do Penguin.but I usually swap a couple of bags of change for notes and then bank the change with some notes.
EG: If I had £200 in notes that I want to bank and I have 5 bags of £1 coins+ £100...then I will take the £100 of £1 coins and £100 of the notes to the bank..this then leaves me £100 in notes in the house to use towards bills or whatever.
Being with A+L for my current account I use the post office to bank and because I do it most days of the week they allow me to pay as much change as I like in which is good.
I have to count the 1p,2p and 5p jar as well...that takes ages....I don't mind doing the bigger coins.
I know Halifax is 5 bags of coins a day.Barclays are not bad as before now I've paid my CC bill with £500 of change.
