Are we going to have a Maestro leaving party?

I called the Clydesdale Bank and they said everyone who has a Maestro card at present is going to have it replaced by a debit Mastercard (includes the basic bank account), they just dont have a date as yet.

I thought the Mastercard Debit was Maestro (Called Eurocard in other countries)

I got my new card this morning after I (genuinely) managed to loose my old one.

My old card was a "Cashline Plus" Solo card and this is what the replacement looks like:

nope they are too separate products Maestro is issued/processed through Mastercard and is a debit card. But they also have another card which is a Mastercard like a credit card, only in the hologram it has debit written in it.

You can see it if you type in Mastercard debit and hit Google images.

The leaflet that came with my card said that I can use it anywhere I see the Visa or Visa Debit logo so I guess it works as a full visa debit card. Neither the card or leaflet mentioned Visa Electron.

I think the best way to find out is try it with Tesco on-line to buy groceries as if it is a disgusied electron it wont be accepted.
