Is the offered job that's closer to home *good enough* to make up for the loss of salary? I.e. would it save you that much in transport cost/time/feel good factor?
Reading your last post I just hope it all works out and you end up with a job you want to do
Thanks mags_catThe other job would make up for it in fuel for now but it is kind of working out OK where I'm working at the minute because my boyfriend lives half way between my house and my work so fuel was evening out...hmmm...
As for feel-good-factor, I dunno yet! I'm going down to the agency tomorrow for a chat, it's like a pre-interview interview. So I bought some nice new shoes to dazzle them withand as if by magic, my £10 from Lightspeed has cleared today which has made my shoes cheaper technically!
It's all quite exciting really. I feel soooo much better now that the meeting with the GM has been called. I still don't know what is going to happen but at least I'm going to be told eventually! It was doing my head in being kept in the dark.
So yes, in MSE news, I have spend today:
£30 on some shoes
£5 on bracelets (Primark dahling)
£7 on a meal with my friend
£1 on a (winning) lottery ticket
£10 cash out of the machine (don't ask me why.....I do this from time to time?? Another habit to stamp on methinks)
£25 petrol
OH yes I nearly forgot...I have found a way to stop my McDonalds 'addiction'!!
We were watching Paul McKenna videos last night and he said if you are craving a 'feel good food', close your eyes and imagine mixing it with something you are disgusted by (in my case, that would be prawns, iiiiii HATE prawns).
So, I tried it...thought about McDonalds and was like homer simpson, "mmmm, McDoonalllllllllds" then thought "But hang on, what if somebody hid a prawn in the meat and I bit into it and had a prawn in my mouth ERRRRRRRRRR".
So there you go, no more McDonalds for me0 -
Note to self: Never believe recruitment agencies
Well today I have had news at work. We are all being TUPEd over to the other company. This doesn't necessarily mean my job is safe, but it does mean that a bigger company will be making me redundant, which means I have more chance of getting a job out of the whole thing (trying very hard to be optimistic here!)
I am very confused at the moment, but have got one to ones coming up from my current HR and my new HR so hopefully things will clear up a bit?
The good news is, I have at least 2 guaranteed pay packets left. Which I can use to completley clear my debts & buy little christmas presents for my loved ones. All I'll need to pay then is my phonebill of £20 a month and.......well, that's it! Thank god I paid my car insurance off in one go eh!
Got sausages and bacon for tea. Yum
Oh, in cat news, my kitten, Mike, is trying to trick everyone into feeding him. He is SCREAMING at me at the moment, like "I'm going to die of hunger and you don't even CARE" and biting my foot. But my Dad and my Brother have both fed him in the last 10 minutes. Naughty :rolleyes:0 -
Payday tomorrow
Here's my summary of spending for the month:
Essential (rent & petrol) = £272.24
Debts (loan 1 & loan 2) = £152.09
Food (bad McDonalds, KFC, Curry etc) = £88.13
Cash (going out with friends) = £140
Bad (shopping, lost driving license etc) = £88.60
Savings = £0
Total incoming = £1112.56
Total outgoing (not incl. overdraft) = £741.06
By the end of next month:
- Halifax loan should be paid off (technically it won't be paid 'til January but it has it's own bank account so I'll put the remaining £260 in there). *tick*
- Credit card will be paid off (can't remember what I used that for but there seems to be about £260 on there, hmmmm). *tick*
- Overdraft will be paid off! *tick*
All that's left is stupid HLC loan, which has £764.50 remaining, boooo.
If I do lose my job in November I should be fine. I want to get myself in a position where I don't *need* a job desperatley. I worked out that I can survive on minimum wage for 20 hours a week if needs be, which is nice to know.

Greeeeat succeeessss.
I have been on eBay & managed to buy a grey cardigan for £7.98 and a very pretty Miss Selfridge dress for £8.
I was gonna buy a grey cardigan for £25 from a shop and was looking at dresses that were £40+ for my night out next Friday so I think I have done quite well
Cat news:
Mike and Phillip just had a massive scrap in the garden, there's furballs flying around everywhere. They are showing off because my boyfriend has come round, they haven't seen him for ages.
Oh and our latest gift is half a mouse, errrr0 -
I have spent £23 on eBay since Friday. Uh ohhhhhhh. This could be my new McDonalds!!
But...because I am out of my overdraft now, I have budgetted £50 for eBay spending. So now if I want something like a new book, I will go to eBay instead of Amazon or a shop. Or if I want new clothes eBay will be my first stop. And I WILL NOT go over my budget of £50.
:jI have paid off my Halifax loan and I have paid £50 off my credit card :j
So if I stick to my budget this month, I should have a couple of hundred quid left over which will pay off the rest of my credit card. Then next month the serious saving can begin. My car has started to rattle now _pale_ so I need a new one quick!0 -
Ohh I have been abandoning my diary, oh dear.
I have not been very MSE really. Well, technically I have...the money I have spent has been done the MSE way but I shouldn't be spending money at all:o
I am stocking up my wardrobe with nice autmny/wintery clothes. Got some stuff from George @ Asda the other day, £47 very niiiiice.
And...check these bargain hunter skillz out...
I wanted some blowfish boots but they were too expensive so I set out on a quest to find them cheap, managed to get a £45 pair of them for £13.75!!! No snow will get through to my feet now.
On the paying off of debts front, I have paid £50 towards my Amsterdam trip, paid off my Halifax loan, paid £50 off my credit card and I am still not in my overdraft! I will be after the weekend but I have lasted about 2 weeks without needing it so I am quite proud of myself
Excellent news too, I have only bought 1 McDonalds! And that was desperatley needed as a hangover cure
Cat news:
Mike bought us a rat's head home the other day, and a big blue dragonfly. Nice!?0
