  • Its the "money saving" attitude of some folk here that really does annoy me. They seem to think that if you are fairly affluent you shouldn't be here, or that you should in some way feel guilty for the fact that you can afford and enjoy what you have. Obviously Jeff you enjoy your passes and can afford them. I'm going to assume that like my family yours works damned hard for what they have and will enjoy it how they see fit.

Yes, this is a money saving forum, but as I said there isn't a minimum wage set for entry is there.

your right there isnt and there shouldnt be. i enjoy theme parks so this annual pass has saved me hundreds of pounds per year - and im happy about that..

Ive been to a fair few more parks around the world then just disney land too.. The states has some of the best wooden coasters ive ever been on - but that gets expensive.

i remember holidaying in Salou before that big park got built and the funfair they had there was ace - had a great mental ghost train type thing.

brettcta they charge to park at alton towers now?

    thieving rob dogs

Another Knee jerk reaction from an MSE fool..

My favourites would be The Simpsons Ride and Jurrasic Park at Universal Studios in L.A. The Simpsons, though not a traditional coaster is such fun, don't know if you have ridden it but its an animated world and incredibly different to anything else. In terms of Disneyland then that will always be the Pirates of The Carribean in Anaheim (the Paris one is somewhat lacking I found). In this country I do love Megaphobia at Oakwood as I have a bit of a love for traditional wooden coasters myself and I'd probably mention AT's Runaway Mine train as well.

If its something you as a family enjoy then why not! By the time you have totted up individual family days out to different parks and attractions it probably does save money anyway :D
  • Rollercoasters, made me mad when they pulled down the one in Wonderland, Cleethorpes.

Still, I did enjoy the Mad Mouse

knee jerk? a knee jerk reaction would be exclaiming that i shall never visit alton towers for the remainder of my days. displaying surprise at their policy of charging to park when their gate prices are already quite high, is far far from a knee jerk reaction, my pedigree chum

my favourite coaster in florida was the hulk ride at islands of adventure.

and the pre-9/11 spiderman ride, where you were caught in a web between the twin towers. this was shut down and re-programmed shortly after the attacks

You need to get to Cedar points or the six flags parks - Amazing coasters and proper thrill rides...

Brettcta - Calling people thieving dogs is a knee jerk reaction.

    £300 = 2 x passes.

easily 10 visit to their parks per year so that works out about £15 per visit. Outstanding value.

:eek::eek::eek: And thats just to get in????

$20 - £10 Got me entrance to ALL the theme parks in Florida (except Disney World) this included parking - I even miserly cringed at that.

£300 to spend 20 minutes on a few 2 minute rides and the rest joining queues sounds just a little expensive to me, and this is just for 2 people?

I guess if I was local enough to go every day of the Year it might be good value, (although I imagine being bored of the same old rides after the second day), its more likely once or twice a Year for anyone would be more than enough before the novelty wore off.

But £300 could get me n the Mrs a nice 2 week holiday by the coast, and that's including the kids.

Thats at EVERY attraction that Merlin own and operate in the Uk though. Its excellent for when family or friends come down to visit london as they all get discounts to the dungeons and thorpe park and the big wheel as well as the sea life centre.

Also as i pointed out marleyboy - that brings the entry down to £15 per person if we went somewhere 10 times a year.. Thats saving more then HALF the entry price and we get free parking so thats another £50 saved.

As we enjoy theme parks and are avid rollercoaster fans this presents excellent savings. and more if we go more often - and we do.And as i have said before we go when its not going to be busy - through the week with hardly no kids so you dont have to queue up like an idiot and only go on a few rides.
