Can I give you a tip? If you want to try and hurt my feelings maybe you should try USENET. Perhaps you'd learn some better lines and tactics there rather than relying on those tired lines from "The ladybird book of insults".0 -

Keep going chic, you'll get that post count up one way or another...... tell you what, I'll even add a 'thanks' too, kid....0

Wow. Mr Oink has quite a chip on his shoulder about AT and the Tussauds Group.
He compares price increases from 4 years ago. Err, yes prices do generally increase year on year. If an attraction is added then it costs millions in investment. Look at any poky new Council play area and there won't be much change from £250k - out local Council spent that on 3 sets of swings, a few climbing apparatus, some kiddies ramps etc. How much do you think a new ride costs? Most probably millions.
The other problem with the UK is that most attractions are seasonal and some attractions can incur a loss on weather obliterated days. The man without a signature.0 -

Wow. Mr Oink has quite a chip on his shoulder in general mate, seems to think that his ridiculous posts are going to get a rise :rotfl:
Anyway, back to the subject in hand, its fairly well recognised in these parts that a wet day is the best day to be visiting Alton Towers as it is normally very quiet. Yes, its not the most pleasant, but when home is 15 minutes away you are not enduring a 5 hour sodden car ride home.
As for costs, also consider the employment aspect as well. AT employs huge numbers of locals right through until they close in November. They are currently advertising for staff for the Halloween Spooktacular. Add to that as you say costs of rides and park upkeep etc it is a huge expense.0 -

He wants everything dirt cheap or else its a rip off!!
shame how so many people are like this now.."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

Its the "money saving" attitude of some folk here that really does annoy me. They seem to think that if you are fairly affluent you shouldn't be here, or that you should in some way feel guilty for the fact that you can afford and enjoy what you have. Obviously Jeff you enjoy your passes and can afford them. I'm going to assume that like my family yours works damned hard for what they have and will enjoy it how they see fit.
Yes, this is a money saving forum, but as I said there isn't a minimum wage set for entry is there.0 -

Sure, things go up, but the jump in price when the Merlin pass turned up was close to 200% on the previous year. The season ticket price stayed static but they removed the ability to use it in all three parks.
I don't think that really qualifies me as having a chip on my shoulder.
However, when it comes to charging £2 to park on top of this, yes, I'd say that really hacks me off and I've got a chip on my shoulder about that. To me it's like an initial vile act on arrival that would have me turn round and leave. Still, I guess £2 to park is OK if you look at it from the perspective that £2 will barely buy you a large drink in the park :rotfl:
People have different views of value for money and this is just not touching base with me.0
