Seller underpaid postage?

Had a fee to pay note put through door today, paid it online not really knowing what it was. Checked on Ebay and it must be a shrug I bought my dd (only other item I'm waiting for is a huge parcel but note said small packet). Total price on Ebay was £1.40, has cost me £1.69 to get it redelivered! Will obviously have to wait until it is redelivered to make sure it IS the shrug but what do I do if it is? The unpaid postage and handling charge is more than I paid in the first place, and the seller will be totally out of pocket if she refunds me.
My logic is that it is her fault for not paying proper postage but I feel kind of guilty at her actually losing money on the sale!
Is it unfair to expect a refund? I'll obviously contact her once I've got the item but what can I do if she refuses?

ETA: seller has 100% and 38 feedback, been on since last Oct, was free postage and seller has on listing "SOLD AS SEEN SO NO RETURN OR NEGATIVE FEED BACK.PLZ"

hmm sounds like it could be an honest mistake, id be tempted to email and see what happens but that "no negative feedback plz" would make me neg her in a heartbeat.

i thought ebay didnt allow that sortof thing anyway, i often get little slips printed from buyers saying "please remember to leave feedback" but ive never seen it on a listing saying no negs, out of order really.

Personally I'd get in touch with the seller if it turns out to be their item. Say something like you are sure they affixed correct postage but somewhere along the line something has gone wrong and you have had to pay £1.69 to get the item re-delivered.
I wouldn't make any demands, I'd leave the ball in their court and see what they reply with.
If they are apologetic and offer a refund all well and good. I'd leave a pos (after you have the refund) but mention a postage problem that got sorted out. If they don't reply at all or do reply and basically say they don't want to know then neg all the way.

We had this happen to a batch of items we sent out when the PO used lickable stamps on our plastic mailing sacks. We realised the lickable stamps don't stick to plastic sacks very well! (we didn't know this, the lady in PO just stuck them on)
We immediately refunded our buyers the costs they had to pay as it was a genuine mistake.

I wonder by her saying **SOLD AS SEEN SO NO RETURN OR NEGATIVE FEED BACK.PLZ"**

Does she mean 'Its sold as seen so don't return it or I will give you a neg' (maybe not realising she can't leave a neg)
OR does she mean 'Its sold as seen and I don't want it back but please don't neg me'

Sounds like its the latter: making out that the only thing the seller feels he/she could get a neg for would be the item and its quality: little does he/she know...!

I would work out how much it has costed her to mail it and send it out to you, before asking for any profit back. Personally I would overlook it if there was no profit made, but thats me. But there is this lingering thought that maybe she realised she had not charged enough for the postage in the first place and mailed out the item knowing full well you would pick up the cost on the other side:confused: not sure.

I do still think you should get back to her though- if she doesn't know there is an error, then how can she improve for next time?

I'd get in touch and tell her about it, give her the opportunity to refund me, if she didn't I'd neg her and forget about it, as it's such a small amount of money.

Dont forget that if there isnt enough postage on an item then there is an automatic handling charge of £1 from the Royal Mail. It could be that the seller underpaid by 69p.

I'd certainly be expecting the seller to reimburse me here and most will I am sure and then take it up with the RM themselves.

If they reimburse then leave a nice positive as they have acted well, if not, consider the other feedback options.

I'd definatly get in touch with them and just mention it and give them a chance to pay up, and neg if they refuse. Its all very well it just being a couple of pound but what if its not by accident they choose to make a habit of it, could really add up the amount they are saving and the amount others are paying. And if they did this on higher costing postage too. Fair enough if it was an honest mistake, just give them a change to amend it.

the handling fee is £1 i beleive so she under paid postage by 69p not like thats an easy mistake! its sounds like she may have only put a first or 2nd class stamp on a packet which really needed alot more postage.

I would contact her and say what she says at the end of the day it sounds to me like its her fault, so what you got free postage she choose to accept free postage and should have made sure that her starting price covered the postage.

Ive had a simillar thing recently, bought something on ebay, whilst on holiday i got one of those cards, went down to P.O to pay and collect (asking to keep card as evidence) and when i got home i emailed the seller, this item had free postage too and the seller informed me very rudely that her free postage was for the cost of a 1st class stamp and the buyer had to pay the difference on receipt (This was not mentioned in the listing) so they got a negative.

at the end of the day regardless of how much you pay for postage its the sellers responability to ensure you receive your item and if they lose out on postage tough they should have made sure they got the postage right in the listing or start price.
