I plan on giving up smoking on 15th August, if i can just aim to clear the 100 days i might just make it  need something to work towards really.

I have given up fags before and lasted for a good 6 or 7 months, then went away and had a few drinks and thought "ne wont hurt"

oopppsss... nearly a year later and back to smoking :-(
I have learnt from my in-debt days....never again!

Please can I rejoin. I only lasted 20 days last time but I want to give up Diet Coke for my sake and that of my daughter who is starting to take up the habit. I would also like to give up any commercial bought sandwiches as these are costing us a fortune.

Welcome to all the newbies- lovely to see you all and I hope you do well.

It's tough making the full 100 days but if you fall of the wagon then just fess up ad jump straight back on! I think we all started to feel that by joining in we'd done much better than we would have done without the challenge and that habits were beginning to change!

I'm doing fine on the no clothes and mags front. I still have stocks of Diet Coke as I buy in bulk- am trying to cut back in readiness for when it runs out as I'm not restocking until the challenge ends !

Not so good on the positive changes front as I'm feeling ill so the exercise is beyond me and I haven't had energy to make the smoothies for a couple of days! I might modify my exercise challenge to be number of steps a day rather than 30 mins.

I must admit to not having the greatest of starts.

No toiletries: Doing ok here. Had to buy shampoo and conditioner as I have run out but no other purchases. A couple of things look like they might be finished soon.

No snacks at work: Not so good here. I have been unwell and haven't been organised to have my own snacks in the house to take to work. Am sending OH shopping tonight so will make sure I have got snacks for next week.

Ebay 10 things per week: I managed 5 things yesterday. 5 to go

Excercise for 30 mins: Only achieved this once so far. I have been really unwell and am still not back at work.

It can only get better from here!

Hi Urg-
100 days is a long time so I think we'll all go through bad patches if we've aimed high with our goals!
You've done well with ebay and the toiletries and at least when hubby has gone shopping the snack situation will improve.

Can I ask what it is that is so bad about diet coke? Is it the cost, the artificial sweeteners, the fact its carbonated, or does it have a deep dark secret?

Sheer volume and cost mainly!!
I drink caffeine free but I don't think several cans a day can be doing me much good!
There are some that say it is evil- partly due to acidity and I think the artificial sweetner.
However, the amount I get through I would save at least £140 a year without it

Ah right okay, makes sense. I drink about 2 x 2 litre bottles a week, which is £2, but it really fills me up and stops me snacking all day long, so I feel it probably saves me spending on trash food and getting chubby!

Well me and my OH have decided to go to Italy for 10 days in October if he can get the time off, how I'm going to get through Milan without buying clothes is beyond me! However I will be good and print off any info I need before I go rather than buying guide books.
