    Hi Guys.
One thing I haven't worked out yet is 'Does the £5 credit have a lifespan' once activated or will it stay on the sim until the credit is used??

I'm using it as an emergency phone.

    Thanks.
With a little bit of luck we can make it through the night!

I was told that after 6 months the sim card goes inactive unless used BUT can be reactivated any time with the £5 and a different mobile number.

The problem is an internet network routing issue.
Some isp's are blocking this site - I do not know why, it is not obvious.
In particular, many Virgin Cable users will not be able to access www simregister co uk there may be other isp's that do not work either.
I had exactly this problem and solved it by using the internet connection at work!

So, if you cannot get through, get a friend to do it or do it on someone elses connection.

BT broadband is another network which must have blocked it. My home broadband is virginmedia and as with everyone else here I found I could not get the simregister site to load. So I tried at work where we have a BT broadband connection and that failed as well.

As I said earlier in this thread, I am with Virgin, ASDL, (does that make any difference if you are on cable?) and have no problem whatsoever accessing www.simregister.co.uk

Works for me via my the link in this post.

Virgin Media block this website because it is operating on port 445 (notice the :445 in the URL). Secure sites (those beginning with HTTPS) usually operate on port 443.

Port 445 is associated with Windows File Sharing and is blocked by Virgin because a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows was exploitable by connecting to machines on this port - remember the Blaster worm?

    Just thought i'd explain that.

Is this just on Virgin cable? As I have Virgin ASDL and the site works perfectly, and all correspondence from Virgin is headed " Virgin Media".

I wouldn't know. I'm on Virgin Media cable in the Guildford area (surrey) and it is blocked. I just thought i'd pitch in and explain the technical reason.

So not really an answer then, unless it is just on the cable and not on the ASDL connections
