I have inserted the sim and got a text only to say picture messaging has now been set up, no text with phone number or code in so I have gone onto the simregister site and entered the details ie phone number which shows up in own number on my phone but left the pin code blank. When I registered it said I would receive credit on my phone in the next 48hrs. Is this correct?0

Sounds about right, I registered mine on the simregister site after receiving the number and code via text, although I got the 48 hour message at around 1 p.m. in Thursday,as of now Sunday, (69 hours later), I still only have 1p credit on the phone, maybe they mean 48 "working day" hours, so will need to check again after 1 p.m. Monday.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

I got a couple of txts from Orange but it didn't tell me my new number or ID code. Tried calling 450 for customer services, but it wouldn't connect me coz I had no credit. Called affordablemobiles who were useless and told me to contact Orange.
Found an Orange freephone number 0800 079 0006 which is a robot voice, but if you press * you get through to a human. She was helpful and told me my number and ID. I've put this into simregister. Now waiting to see if £5 credit appears...0 -

Oh great I will give the freephone number a call. Does anyone know if the free credit expires ?0 -

I have just spoken to Orange on the above freephone number, (you need to press the * key a few time to speak to a human, or 450 from your mobile which, if you want to actually speak to someone as against listening to the recorded menu costs a one off charge of 25p), I have been told that the credit will never expire, but you do need to make one chargeable call every 6 months to keep the sim live, and that up to 5 sims can be registered to the same person at one address.

Got a txt from Orange saying they'd give me a £1 for registering but this hasn't appeared yet.
However, the £5 credit appeared yesterday. Yay!0 -
By the way, change to the racoon plan - it's the cheapest option. Calls are 15p a minute and txts are 10p.
Of course, the Asda SIM is the cheapest around: 8p a minute calls and 4p per txt.0 -
I tried registering and got an error message, and it told me to call up the 0845 number. I did that, and they said they didn't have the sim number on the system. I had to give over a few details (hope it's nothing dodgy), and they said a manager would look into it. Not sure if I'll get my credit, and just end up being a victim of ID fraud instead .0
