Having gone to bed ridiculously early last night as I felt yucky, I was wide awake at 3.30 this morning  I picked up the freebie newsletter that was shoved through the postbox yesterday and read some of it, and one article from the local vicar really touched me, it may be made up I don't know but the sentiment is lovely and I wanted to share it with those of you who are about to brave the shops to buy Christmas presents or who are about to hammer the credit cards ....

I won't copy all of it as it will take ages to type, but the summarised version ...

Basically there was a family who didn't have much money and struggled at Christmas time to buy gifts for all their five children. On Christmas Eve the father was looking for the last roll of wrapping paper to wrap something up and saw that the youngest child had used it all up to cover a huge cardboard box. Puzzled, he lifted the box up and realising by the weight of it that it was empty he shouted at the child for wasting the paper, making her cry. Demanding an explanation for her silly and wasteful behaviour the child eventually, through tears, blurted out that she had found a box and blown kisses into it until it was crammed full before sealing it and covering it ready for her parents to unwrap. The father was crushed and couldn't rid himself of his feelings of guilt. On Boxing Day the family were out for a walk when a drunk driver mounted the pavement, killing the young girl. In his darkest moments of despair the father used to reach into the box and take out one of the kisses to feel closer to his lost child :o:o:o

Ok ds has gone to his dads, this is the last chance I've got before xmas to get anything without him around. I'm going out in a minute to get the tree, and I need to do food shopping, but other than that its mainly sorting stuff indoors for xmas; delivering cards, tidying and cleaning, resting and shifting my cold/cough, and enjoying the x-factor final :D

Tree is bought, I normally spend about £20 on it but the only ones I could find for that much were tiny and spindly this year, so I went up to the £35 ones, which seems an awful lot to spend on something I'm going to throw away in a couple of weeks, but never mind, its all part of my mission to enjoy xmas more this eyar, so first step is a proper tree ;):D

I've lugged it up the stairs (I'm on 3rd floor ), and now need to have a tidy up and hoover through before I put it up. Thats always a battle as I have a special box thing to put it in, but you have to hold it straight and screw the screws in all at the same time   Oh the joys of being single :D

Well done on managing to get it in the flat all by yourself:eek: I would have ended up at the bottom of the staircase in a heap ontop of the tree.

It will be worth it when its all decorated, nothing like a real tree to make your Christmas just that little bit special.

Job done :j :j I forgot I had invested in a new screwdriver set last year in the sales, and one of them fitted perfectly, and it went in no problems, all done in a matter of minutes, thats the easiest its ever been to do that :j I'm going to leave it for a few hours for the branches to sort themselves out a bit and for it to have a drink, then I'll get the lights on, and ds can help me decorate it tomorrow when he comes home :D

I've also decided I'm going to order my food shopping online this week, I can't face tescos while I feel yukky, I need to order loads of heavy things too so at least then I don't have to lug them up the stiars either ;)

    So, the rest of the weekend shapes up like this;
    • clean kitchen
    • clean bathroom
    • get lights on xmas tree
    • get out all xmas presents and wrap / sort etc
    • brother / bil to move old tv down to garage
    • deliver / post xmas cards
    • ironing
    • order food shopping
    • deliver brother / family presents
    • redirect parcel to local post office
    • clear washing mountain
    • banking
Now that the tree is up I'm starting to feel quite relaxed and xmassy, might even have a baileys or two later while xfactor is on ;):D

My tree is still in the loft........I did say to the kids that it would only come down for decorating when the lounge was tidy enough.......

    Enough said

I hope you soon feel better.
